Can anyone pleeeze tell me why parents these days let their kids run the show?

Most parents are just too lazy to do the right thing.
I had to break my daughter-in-law's bad habit if letting the twins walk all over her. I asked her why she was doing it - and this is what she said "I don't want them to hate me. I don't want to be a mean mother". I then responded by saying "you watch the talk shows everyday; they always have kids on there who disrespect their parents, yell, cuss and run the streets. Do you want the twins to do the same?" She said "No". I then told her "OK, then step up to the plate and be a parent. Don't let them walk all over you and punish them when they do wrong. Because if you don't do it NOW - they will end up just like those unruly disrespectful brats on TV and will end up hating you. Learn to say NO". She listened and the twins (will be 10 in March) are respectful and a joy to be around.
I just don't know why today's parents are so afraid to discipline their children. For some reason they allow their children to be the 'parent' and then come onto this site asking for help. I just don't get it either.
Most parents these days are lazy. They don't want to take the time to properly disipline their children, so they let them do whatever they want, or use force, like hitting them. It's terrible because think about what the generation of those kids are going to be like when they grow up. If you are going to have kids, you need to take care of them, and raise them well.

And someone noted that parents are getting lazy.. they are right as well.. I noticed that parents really believe they are doing a good job and that they are on top of it! And I am looking around and wondering am I the only one here who sees differently.
Have you noticed that teens and twenty year olds.. are the laziest we have ever seen.. Parents are always saying... well I don't want my kid to work as hard as I had to!!
I want to know what is wrong with hard work?
I want to tell people that if you have a track record for not having stamina in anything you do.. small or big.. don't have kids.. because it is a long haul job! Stamina...
Parents need to quit thinking about having babies and start thinking about if they are capable of producing a viable human being to contribute to the human race.
I believe God wants us to be of use.. otherwise what is the point of being around. What are we contributing to?
