I'm 16, will a doctor see me without my parrents concent?
Answer:
doctors are required by law to see you, no matter what your age. now as far as paying for it... that may be complicated. but also your doctor can't tell your parents anything about what you talk about by law (hippa). it's actually illegal for the doctor to even say that you came and saw them.
not usually depends on what it is. give details so you get more accurate answers
edit: I see some parents are speaking of Hippa. I know that law. I was 15 when I left my house (after Hippa was created) and was unable to file for independency for 8 months. During that time I went to the doctor at least 2 times. My mom went in (although I was not living with her and paid out of my pocket because I had no insurance) and was able to request all my medical records. In the medical records it showed I had been to the doctor. She then tried to use the papers against me in court to try to show I was not taking care of myself and had to see the doctor because of self-neglect, which was not the case. (had a recurring UTI).
So although you may be able to see your doctor, you parents have rights to your medical records and can quickly access them. Now what are the odds that they would ever need to? That is up to you to decide. But if later on you need further medical attention for this problem you have, it would be VERY hard to explain that off to your parents. The bill for that would surpass any money I think you could afford to pay without a bill being sent to your house.
Good luck
A doctor will see you but it would be billed to their insurance company so they could find out.
Yes, he/she would. Just go to your doctor. He/she will see you. Don't worry.
You can see your GP it strict confidence without your parents consent
I'd think he can see you but not treat you. o you have a school nurse or counselor you can talk to?
Yeah you can but I would pay in cash and not use your insurance card cause then your parents can find out. Good Luck.
You can go to the Dr without your parents consent. Call your Dr, you don't need to give them your name, and ask them what there rules are on confidentiality for a minor. However, as far as I know they can't tell your parent's anything due to HIPPA (the patient confidentiality law). Don't know about payment though... Good luck!
:-) Didn't see the one above until after I posted this... Oh well, I guess!!
you being 16 no doctor will see you without your parents concent because of your age.It could be something wrong and if they see you without your parents concent they could get in to trouble and could lose there job.talk to someone you are very close to and ask what they think you should do.
Yes, go to a counselor or a clinic like, plan parenthood or confide in an older family member or friend that you know will not involve your parents unless it is unavoidable. You should never let anything go for too long sexual or not. At any time you are concern about something with your body or mind - see a doctor asap. Prolonging only can make things worst, the sooner you go the sooner the problem will be taken care of and at times with less hassle and pain. Good luck to you.
hiya, i was able to go to docs when i was 16 but you dont know your parents migh be ok obviously we dont know about your parents but its worth a try what is the poblem if you dont mind me asking?
kayla
you can go to County Health Dept. no charge and confidential
If you have an STI(STD) he or she can see you and treat you without your parents concent. I'm not sure about a regular visit I've always needed a parent before the age of 18
Yes you may go. Some insurance bills are better than others concealing the purpose of the visit. Let your doctor know your privacy concerns and they can mark it down as a general visit without details to show up on insurance billings. Some insurance companies use numeric codes and can only be discussed with the patient but not all.
County health clinic is also a good place to go or any charity free clinics in your area.
I dont know.
jus tell ur parents that you wanna get a physical for skool...then when ur doctor asks u if u have any questions, then let him kno bout ur situation
Yes you are entitled to medical care so yes a doc should see you without your parent's consent.
