13th b-day party?

My daughter is turning 13 in Feb ( Feb.14th) and i wanted to get some ideas of what kind of party she should have. Is a unisex party good? Looking for kids her age to give me ideas to. Thanx

Answer:
Hey, I'm 14 and I remember that turning 13 was big, I think a unisex party it a great thing I had one. Only thing is I have a friend who had one and her mom was there but not supervising and the kids starting drinking so yeah I would watch out for that. I think she will really like it, it's so much fun. Hope it all works out for your daughter.
it depends what shes into so if shes girly, try pink. if shes punk, try green or black. just find out what she likes(or if you know already) and surprise her
i would do a co-ed party for her 13th. music, lots of music. and food. preteen and teenage guys LOVE food. chips, soda, and dip for nessacites. her 13th is special,so maybe do a theme that is really awesome. think of it as her sweet 16th,but a little cheaper. good luck!
I wonder if you could pull off a Valentine's Day theme without being too corny. Like, a few red roses, red/pink/white candles, a heart-shaped cake, and some cards. Maybe it sounds a little weird, but you can sort out the gentlemen from the brutes with males.
im 12. turning 13 in may. i think u should let her choose what she wants 2 do but yes, a unisex party is good.let her choose who she invites tho. and if u have 2 have it be a surprise, just decorate cool, and in the morning, act like u forgot about it, and shell be all sad, but then when she realizes that u actually had a great party planned, shell be SOO happy...what my family always does is let us choose, and we sometimes go 2 amusement parks or sumthing as a family.or let her have an indoor pool party. but no matter what, shell know u care. i hope she has a great birthday! and tell her i said happy birthday. i hope i helped!! <3
i'm 13.

i think that she should be able to have a co-ed party, as long as there is enough, but not TOO much supervision. You could rent out a small hall, and decorate it. invite 50 friends. make it semi-formal. get a dj for some dancing. have some finger foods. have some booths like keychain maker or wax hands, if you want to spend money. have them sit down for dinner. i've been to bar/bat mitzvahs like that, and they are FUN. you don't have to give party favors, but most djs give little knick-knacks to everyone.

but if you really don't feel comfortable about co-ed, then she could do the same thing with just girls. or she could have a sleepover. one of my friends had a birthday party at a nice restaurant for breakfast, but i would recommend doing it for dinner.

all of these are fun party ideas that i would love to go to.

i have many more, so contact me if you need more ideas!
I had a bonfire for my 13th party. We cooked weenies on coathangers and made S'mores.
A Valentine's birthday how fun.

You don't say how much money you are planning on spending, but I have asked my kids and here are their answers:

Take her and a small group of her friends out to eat in a nice, trendy, restraunt, and then treat them to the movies or bowling. Some restraunts have special rooms that you could rent for the occasion, and depending on your funding rent a hall and a local band, have the party catered by the restraunt.

Have a party at home, if you live in a warm climate, a pool party or, bar-b-que, or in a cooler climate, indoors with adequate dance space, having it catered is also a plus.

A unisex party is important. My daughter insists I tell you this.

My advice: Invite a couple of your daughter's friends parents for an informal gathering in a room separate from the party area. This gives the parents an opportunity to peek in on the kids without being intrusive, ie/re-filling chips bowls, checking the level on the punch(and checking to make sure it isn't spiked), and also allows you to have back-up, in case a problem arises that is difficult to tackle alone.

Mostly, ask your daughter what her friends have done at their parties, and possibly, ring up her friend's parents for ideas.

Turning 13, is a crucial development time in your daughter's life and her party can be important for her social standing with her friends. Peer influence is BIG at this age and though her imput is important use your good judgement to make sure she and her friends have a safe, good time.

Good luck and I hope this helped. Happy Birthday to your daughter, I hope she has fun at her party.
I just threw a party for my 12 yr old's birthday and we did a slumber party with about 10 friends. We had a photo scavenger hunt, where we split into several teams and each team had a digital camera, a list of items to photograph, and a time limit! We had silly rules like, everyone must be in each and every picture for them to count. Be creative with your list of items, we even had a kiss on the cheek from a cute boy on the list! We then put all the pictures on the laptop and used our projector to show the pictures big on the wall. It was a huge hit! The kids are still talking about it at school and this was over a month ago!

Next year for a 13th party I'm planning a "casino night" where all the kids will get pretend money and can play poker or blackjack, and I'll buy prizes (inexpensive things) that they can buy with their "loot" at the end of the night!

I haven't done a co-ed party yet, and would be sort of nervous even at 13. But I liked the other person's suggestion of having several parents there in another part of the house, just for moral support!

Good luck whatever you choose to do!
