no...I dated a 16 year old when i was 12..it was fine.my mom didn't like it but she never liked any of my boyfriends regardless of their age..my friends agree that when you're 12, any guy 12-18 is okay.
Has he/she (meaning the 12 year old) Even hit puberty yet? In my opinion teens shouldn't date at all till their at least 16. And yes i think the age gap is a problem at this stage in their life.

From personal experience:
My cousin was 16, and this guy she met was 13. He lied about her age and said he was 15. They get involved kiss, give hickies etc, something happened, and his mom found out and called police. She got arrested, he admitted he lied about his age in court, but police didn't care, she went to jail for like 6 years, she is now going to be a registered sex offender for the rest of her life, she can't keep parole, and keeps getting arrested again.
so my advice.be careful! And make sure BOTH set of parents know and approve!

IT IS TOTALLY WRONG! My daughter who is now 28 began datins a 16yr old when she was 12, her mother (exwife) thoght it was totally cool and okay. She now has a son who is 15, (her oldest she has 4). Age limit for datins should be no less that 15yrs
Wrong, The twelve year old can call rape. The fifteen year old should no better then that. Find somebody your own age.
