My daughter is "becoming a woman"... are there any sites out there geared towards girls about this?
I'm not going to post too much, cuz there is a lot of weirdos and immature people on this site...heh.
shes 5th grade. She is very embarassed to talk about the subject, so my quesiton is this:
are there any website geared towards girls that talk about maturing?
Answer:
When I 'became a woman' my mom got me this amazing book. It called "The body book". Its a Christian book, but it really helped me. Not only did it deal with periods, it dealt with bras, body types, and alot of things that pre-teens go through. Its geared toward young girls, and it doesn't make anything sound scary at all, the pages are even a cute orange color.

I absolutely love this site. I think it's fabulous for girls because not only is it informative--it's fun! It talks about everything from shopping to boys to sex to parents. It's a really great "coming of age" site. I often suggest it to young people when they need help with their periods, sex, masturbation, and other things most kids are either too embarrassed to talk about or scared to admit they worry about. Anyway here it is--I hope it helps you!
Try these:
Go to http://www.beingagirl.com
And
http://www.kotex.com
Also go to your search box and type in what you are looking for so many things will pop up.

Lots of doctor's offices offer a "Mother and Me" class or "Celebrating Puberty". But frankly, if she is uncomfortable I think you are her best source. If she is in 5th grade she has already seen the sex movie. She needs reassurance that she can ask you (or your sister or whomever you choose in addition to you) any question she wants. And if you have a reassuring calm approach to talking with her she will talk with you when she needs it. Right now she just needs to know what to do.keep it simple. Give her resources.she can talk with the school nurse or your family physician if something is difficult to ask you. Our provider has a nurse on-call and that was a help to my daughter. I think its important to have an ongoing conversation. You might want to check with your school.we were required to get a doctor's script on file if we wanted to allow our girls to have tylenol or other over-the-counter products for pain relief.
