How to tell my mom that I started my period.?

Okay I just started my first ever period today, and Im really shy and discreet about things, and my mom has a big mouth and likes to blab personal things to people. So I was wonder how can I tell my mom that I started my first period, and how do I ask her that I want to try using tampons. Also how do I ever talk to her about sex when Im ready for it, and about getting condoms and so on. remember Iam a very shy and discreet girl so it makes things a little tougher when communicating with my parents especially my mom.

Answer:
Just tell her about it, she'll be happy for you. Just mention to her that you don't want her to tell anyone.
text her. or tell her you have something personal to tell her. tell her you have a visit from aunt flow or just say it's that time of the month for you.
just tell her u started today and ask her not to blab to all her friends or something like keep it to herself.
just tell her, but tell her please don't tell every one. that it embarrasses you! i sure she will remember how it is!! you should not us tampons just yet! wait a few months! tampons a risky to us(toxic shock syndrome.) give her a chance and she may surprise you!!
OK, first take your mom into a room alone, and tell her exactly how you feel. It will be hard, but she will never know it bothers you for her to tell someone unless you let her know. Its important to talk to her about things like this. Tampons are not a good idea until you are 16. If you want read the warning label on a box. I dont want to scare you but they can cause something called TSS in very young females. For more info on that look at:

Second the sex talk, very important also. If you find that you are unable to talk with her about it find someone, dont just go alone on the subject. If you have a teacher who you really trust, or a counselor thats a good idea.Write down any questions you have, and concerns. If you want take your mom into a room alone and discus this with her, give her some reaction time, but be firm in letting her know you really need some reliable information. Do some research online as well.

I know its hard, it was for me as well. It so important to do the right thing here. If you are thinking of having sex, sometimes a place like planned parenthood can help you too. Look in your area to see what is available for you. Good luck, be careful!
First of all, congratulations on becoming a woman. Tell your mom, you need to talk to her privately. Take her to your room and tell her. She would want to know, she's your mother.
If you are not sexually active, I don't think you should start with tampons. Once you tell her about your period, she most likely will have the talk with you. But 1st things 1st, tell mom about your period, then let things take it's course from there.
Good luck and congratulations...
Hmm.that's a toughie! When my daughter (now six) gets to that time in her life, I hope she tells me about it, so I'm sure your Mom would want to know, too.
Since she 'blabs personal info,' then pull her aside--in a quiet room, whatever, and be honest, upfront, and precise. Tell her that a) you have something VERY important to tell her, b)you don't want ANYONE else knowing what you want to confide in her now, and c)then tell her that you are, in fact, a woman now because you started your period. Ok, then she's gonna flip because she'll be all excited and happy for you. So, after the hugs, screaming, etc., are over with, THEN tell her that you REALLY REALLY don't want anyone else knowing, that it's yours to tell whomever you want. Most people would understand that. THen tell her that you would like to try using tampons. (Although, most docs would tell you not to use a tampon your first period or two.)
And, as far as sex is concerned, you Mom may actually bring that topic up first, once realizing that you are capable of becomind pregnant now. If not, let her get over the shock of your period, then ask her about condoms and birth control and all that.

CONGRATS!! On your first period! Welcome to womanhood!!
i'm very shy bout that kinda stuff too
1st of all if you've just started your period don't use tampons yet. u may want to just because your friends are but don't yet.
secondly shouldn't u be learning some of this stuff in school? just talk to your mom about sex and such when you absolutely feel mature and comfortable about it. trust me a time will come when you just don't feel shy anymore and you'll just speak up
thirdly you HAVE to talk to your mom about your period today so she can get the necessary supplies and just BEG her to not tell
that's what i did
by the way this is how i told my mom. . .
i peed and there was a light-colored pink in it. i was confused so i said "mom, come here!" and i showed her my urine and she told me i started my period. i had to use a panty liner for the first night cuz that's all my mom had cuz she uses tampons. the next day she bought me some pads (and my flow was VERY heavy by the way)
that's my story, hope i helped
GOOD LUCK!! : )
Hey Girl don't worry about telling your mom she should understand. She went threw the something when she was younger but if she tells everybody just deal with it because u are know a women.
You should tell your mom but you should explain to her not to tell personal business that you discuss within your family walls. I know it is going to be hard but all you have to do is tell her and get it over with. If she can't handle you telling her that your period is on then you have to find someone very close to you to tell about sex, condoms, etc.
well telling your mom... lets see tell her (you don't have to say theses exact words but) tell her " mom i have somthing to tell you and when you find out don't just tell evrybdy in the world" (LOL) "but today i had my first period" she will probley maybe freak a little but then she will do little stuff for you then tell her "well i also want to try tampons" she will probley lone you some. and the about when your ready to have sex i would say mom i think i am ready to have sex. she will probley talk to you alittle and then my mom would give me a couple condoms. maybe your mom would do that for you too! here try to go to this website
www.talk4teens.co.uk/askthetea...
if this doesn't help you could go to google type avice to tell parents you are pregnant.somthingshould pop up.
u need to tell her rite now so tht u can become alittle more open with her tht way by the time ur ready to have sex and so on it'll b easier
You sound just like my girl, she complains that I can't "talk about her".

Just remember this is something that all girls have gone through, including mom. She was once in the same position you are now in.

It's way too early to think about talking about sex, cross that bridge when you get to it.

Good luck,

CONGRATULTIONS
When i first got my period, i was feeing the same way as you! i jusp put a note on my moms bed that said something like "i got my period today." so simple, yet obviously obvious! She isnt going to judge you, this will happen to every young girl sometime in their teen years (or younger) and I know that is seems embarrasing rite now, but soon it will be "just another period" just go for the plunge and try to relax, you are probably worrying a lot more then you need to! And about the tampon situation, you might want to use pads for a bit, while you are getting used to this change, and then once u feel ready, when you go to the supermarket with your mom, grab a box of tampons, put it in the cart, and thats it, you shouldnt have to ask, just do what you feel is rite. Good luck! oh and just say to your mom, that you want this to be between you and her, and that you aunts and uncles dont need to noe!!
can you talk to your grandmother or an aunt first to get advice on how to tell your mom. Sorry to say, all the women in your family will know you started your period.. mom'sdon't tell to be cruel, but becasue it is a MAJOR part in their not so little girl's life.
tell her, other wise she is going to find out anyway
you should tell your mom you need to talk to her about something very serious. Tell her how you feel. Don't feel bad about becoming a woman. I think is early for you to start thinking about condoms and birth control. Give it a couple of years. One step at a time. As your mom about sex. If you have a nice relationship she will be sincere with you. If not your school nurse will explain to you also.
Hey,
There's really no point in trying to keep it from your mom, eventually she will find your box of tampons or pads and find out. Plus, I think it might hurt her feelings if you didn't tell her, because she'd feel bad that you couldn't talk to her about something so important.
Just go to her and say "I have to tell you something but you have to promise not to tell anyone else..." (if she's as gossipy as you say, she won't be able to resist promising) Then just say "well...I think I got my period"
Most likely, she'll be like "Ohh my baby girl is all grown up!" and she'll be really nice about it. While she's being nice and you're having a little mother-daughter moment, tell her how you really don't want people knowing because it's really personal (seriously). You can probably get some ice cream and chocolate out of this too.
About the tampons, if she uses them, she'll understand why you want to use them, and you won't have to explain why you want them. If she does ask, just say that pads feel gross.
say "mom. i started my peroid today and i need some advce, but could you please keep this between us?"

or, forward this page to her
If you're 17 and just started something may be wrong.
