13 year old? Isn't it too young?

My daughter is 13 and I caught her masturbating. We have talked about sex before, but isn't 13 too young to be courious?

Answer:
Babies, toddlers, preteens, 'tweens, teens, adults, and geriatrics masturbate. At each of those stages, the orgasm is different, but from the 'tweens on up, it's about the same thing. Completely normal at all those ages.
lol, not really i masturbated when i was like 7, but didnt get into it till i was 9 or 10, anyways, there isnt a law stating 13 is too young to masturbate. its healthy for teens, but hey, at least she's not having sex
well, my 13 year old friend boy does that sometimes. i think that she is just curious to see what it feels like to do it, but it breaks my heart to hear kids doing grown up things (even though i am a child myself). i think that is young to do that, but it's normal.
No way. I started getting curious about it when I was 9. There is nothing wrong with masturbation. Just tell her to stick to that until she's past 18 and she'll be fine.
no everyone is curious until they expirience it dont worry
ah the most enbaressing theng ever being caught lol
i think its fine doesent cause any harm
i would guess that most people will have tried it by 13
just dont bring it up..
NO!!!!!!!!
This is a verry embarrising subgect especially for girls. I feel sorry for her i hope you didnt bring her father into it lol, i can tell you primary schoolers are doing it and it is completly normal for that age. Curiouse or not people do it it at all ages
Heavens no, 13 is not too young to be curious. Societal studies have found that children of any age are curious and like the pleasant sensations they experience (even if they do not yet realize the full potential or sensual nature of their actions).

Hopefully you didn't overreact when you interrupted her episode. That is a moment in every child's life, as well as in the life of the interrupting parent. When it's happened to me (as the adult), my comment was, "Oh, I didn't realize I was interrupting your privacy," and backing out of the room. It can be a great opportunity to later discuss privacy, discretion, and hopefully the naturalness of it all. The toughest question can be, "Well, do you do it too?" Best answer I've found is that most everyone does it.

My personal philpsophy is how can one have a good physical relationship with one's partner at the appropriate time if one doesn't understand their own physiology, and that's a safe and non-threatening way to make that discovery. And it goes withoug saying that they understand there's a time and place, and that it not be all-consuming (more likely with boys than girls).

The site below has some great information, including ages at which kids begin to masturbate. Note that one study found that a majority of femalles — 55% — began masturbating between the ages of 10 and 15. It is not uncommon however to begin much earlier, and this is more frequent among females: 18% had begun by the time they turned 10, and 6% already by the time they turned 6. Being the main outlet of child sexuality, masturbation has been observed in very young children.

So once more, rest assured that 13 is *not* too young to be curious. Good luck and peace be!
No 13 is not to young, she is becoming a young lady and is just experimenting with her body. If u tell her what she did is wrong, she will feel like its dirty. You need to let her know that its ok to do that, i mean, she could be out having sex.
