How do i get my 13 year old son to cut his hair,?

its in the between stage, looks bad. help!!

Answer:
I have this issue in my house also. I've decided that hair is not life threatening or permanent, it's my childs way of expressing himself. Therefore, he decides when he wants it cut. I only ask that it be kept clean.
get his friends to tell him he needs a new dew..they never listen to us at that age...well I had to bargain , I promised my son highligts if he would get it cut...give and take.
You tell him to go get his haircut.
same prob here. i have promised him a trip to smyths so fingers x
wait til hes sleeping or let him pick out a style from a book or magazine and make a day of going to the barber
LET HIM BE! LOOK AT OLD PICS OF YOUR SELF AND SEE HOW WEIRD YOUR STYLES WERE EVEN AT THAT TIME YOU THOUGHT YOU LOOKED GOOD.. HE WILL GROW OUT OF IT AND CHANGE HIS STYLE....
Tell him either he can choose the haircut or you will.
Tell him you really like his hair even though you don't; chances are good that he'll cut it because he won't want a hairstyle that his mom says she likes.
If the biggest problem that you have with your 13 year old is that he needs a haircut... you're doing really good.

It's just hair... he's trying to become an individual, and usually hair plays a part in that.
i would just take lots of pics, then after HE decides to cut it off, he will realize what a doofis he looked like...make sure you tell him to take note that you want him to get his hair cut, so he can't say..."mom...why didn't you tell me to cut my hair?"...lol...good luck and kids will be kids!
Well if it looks bad, it is his decision to keep it. If he wants to cut it he will tell you. Look at it this way, youdon't have to pay for his next appointment!
you take him to the barber shop and get his hair cut.
u r the mom u have control y r u asking
strap him down and take the buzz cutters to that head of his!

lol j/k

Try compramising with him. Tell his he can have something if he cuts his hair. Nothing to expensive tho. Offer to give him money and he goes to the hair dressers himself and he can keep the change and buy whatever he wants.
Just let him be. He'll cut it when he feels the need. He doesn't need his mom to tell him how to have his hair. gosh.
The way to get your child to cut his hair is to tell him you're going to run errands and get his hair cut on the way. HOWEVER, I advise you not to force him to get his hair cut. If you do, you're wasting an opportunity for a teaching moment with your child.

If you completely (but not melodramatically) back off from the issue, he'll learn the consequences for his own actions. If activities in school are contingent on shorter hair, he'll have to make his own decision. Your son won't always look perfect; this is a chance to prove to him that your love for him is also not contingent on how much you like his appearance.

Soon enough he'll have to alter his appearance to suit others; employers, for certain. This is the time when he's supposed to have documented fashion disasters! Let him, and take advantage of the teaching moments in the minor battles.
treat him for a toy he wants but have him cut hair first.
You dont get him to do it...you take him to the hair cut place and have it cut! I'm sorry but I really do not understand why parents have trouble with this. My son is soon to be 13 and does not like hair cuts either but he gets them when I feel it is necessary. When the hair touches the collar or ears its time to cut! People you are the parents here. since when do kids tell parents who, what, where and when?
when your son is old enough he will understand why, but for now take him by the hand and get it done.
Choose your battles carefully. This one is the least important. As long as it's clean, it doesn't matter what his hair looks like. Teenagers are supposed to define themselves and cut the apron strings. Finding a new image for yourself, not the one dictated by your parents, is part of the process. If he's a good kid, leave him alone. Or offer to pay for a hair stylist. Styling sounds much better than cutting (especially for boys, who sometimes connect "cutting" with "castrating").
cut while he is sleep.
okay there is absolutly nothing wrong with the way teens like they're hair now a days!! i mean just look at how u wore your hair in the 70's or 80's! i mean can u say eeww!!??!?!?! in the 70's-80's the "in" thing was BIG hair-----now the "in" thing is long hair!
Honey if thats your biggest problem, drop to your knees and thank God! As teens we all chose a way to rebel a little and if this is his way, you got off easy. Don't worry as soon as some girl he likes steps into the picture, he will start grooming.. LOL
