Please help with my baby boy's name!!?
Please help!! I don't want to have a blockbuster name but want to have a nice and elegant name for my boy. It would be great if it has wonderful meaning and was from Bible.
I like the name "Daveon" but my friend told me the baby probably will be called "Dave" which will be another common name. How do you think?
Answer:
if you like the name Daevon, then name the kid Daevon, if you don't teach him growin up to answer to Dave, then he won't. and when he gets older, if someone calls him Dave, he'll be like, hey, that's not my name. I have friends that have semi normal names, and they don't go by the regular nicknames. Like a friend named Christina, that doesn't like to be called Chris. And the name Daveon (sorry i spelt it wrong above), sounds so cute!
How do you mean to pronounce that? Dav- EEE-on? Davon? If it's like Davon then that's nice.

Well, if you want names that are biblical ...
Aaron -- I don't remember if it's in there, but it is Hebrew, meaning 'mountain'.
Cain -- Hebrew, meaning 'craftsman'
Josiah -- 'God saves'
Joshua -- 'god rescues'
Jonah -- 'dove'
Abraham -- 'father of a multitude'
Jonathan -- 'Jehovah has given'
Adam -- 'earth'
And then.just names I saw that I rather liked...
Egan -- 'lively'
Elijah -- 'my god is lord'
Flynn -- 'inventive'
If you're looking for elegant and old-fashioned and want to look online, I suggest the Celtic and Hebrew and Old English. They have some pretty neat-sounding names.
How about Moses, Samuel, Adam, or Jacob
matthew it's English form of Ματθαιος (Matthaios), which was a Greek form of the Hebrew name מַתִּתְיָהוּ (Mattityahu) which meant "gift of YAHWEH" (God). Saint Matthew, also called Levi, was one of the twelve apostles, a tax collector. He was supposedly the author of the first Gospel in the New Testament.
and
luke the Greek name Λουκας (Loukas) which meant "from Lucania". Lucania was a region in Italy. Saint Luke, the author of the third Gospel and Acts in the New Testament, was a doctor who travelled in the company of Saint Paul.
Mark Familiar form of MARCUS. Saint Mark was the author of the second Gospel in the New Testament. He is the patron saint of Venice, where he is supposedly buried. Another famous bearer of this name was Mark Antony (Marcus Antonius), the Roman triumvir who was the lover of Cleopatra. Shakespeare tells this story in his tragedy 'Antony and Cleopatra'. Yet another famous bearer was the American author Mark Twain, real name Samuel Clemens, author of 'Tom Sawyer' and 'Huckleberry Finn' (he actually took his pen name from a call used by riverboat workers on the Mississippi River to indicate a depth of two fathoms).
