Is this too weird?

Hi my boyfriend named our baby Marley after 'Bob Marley' and now im pregnant again he has suggested another name for a boy Kartel after 'Vybz Kartel' a jamaican dancehall artist my dp is black caribbean. I like the name Kartel just do you think its strange to name all our children in this way?

Answer:
Not at all. It really dosnt matter how u decide on a name for a baby, just as long as ur happy with it.
Good luck with the kids.
just like you named yourself babies3 well yes
If you like the names why worry about it?
You name them whatever you want to name them!! I know someone who is called Pocahontas!
Go for it - they are cool names. Not weak or limp like some of the new age rubbish you hear.

If your happy then go for it!
No, it is not weird to keep the origins of all of your babies' names the same. If you like the name, I say go for it!
The important thing is whether you like the names or not, and not whether other people will think they're weird. Lots of cultures name their kids after their favourite possessions. Think too of the Beckhams, calling theirs after the places they were conceived in...it's just personal taste. As long as the name isn't one that will cause the kid to be mocked and bullied then there's no harm done
You have to name them something & at least these names have meaning to you.
Its not like you are being like celebrities & naming the poor child Apple, Blanket, Moon Unit, Satchell or something like that.
no Kartel sounds lovely it is what you both like at the end off the day not up to anyone else it is your baby
It's not weird, people name their babies after all sorts of things, the trend at the moment seems to be naming them after the place they were conceived, so long as you and your boyfriend like the names, go for it!
Since you like the name, just name him Kartel!
No...very nice names in fact..
I don't think so. A lot of people name their children different ways.
Its not weird
no there fantastic names go for it i love usual names instead of the same old names.my children have unusual names but i give them a second name to fall back on just in case they didn't like it .but they love there names.
what can i say is that he is sick and yr not doing a good thing by being pregnant again and another time, but still u and him r free
Nah, do whatever you feel is best! Also, the names are slightly more unusual and can be a talking point! At least you're not name them after where they were conceived...eg Brooklyn hehe - imagine the child explaining that to his mates? :-P
It's only my opinion but I don't think you'd be doing your child any favours.

Your name is hugely influential - he would be forever asked how it is spelt (or people would spell it wrong), written down people probably wouldn't know if it was referring to a male or female and they'd get comments that it is a weird / unusual name - trust me I know!!

I'm pregnant too and will be going for something which is not too common but understated and sounds confident - not like what my Mum did to me - cheers Mum!
It depend on what your surname is and waht the babies intials are i now somone who has the intials C.R.A.P
HI, i personally do not think it's weird. It's modern and not every1 will have chosen the same name. I think in this day and age we can choose a variety of names that suit our family as well as our babies and not have to stick to the usual John, Jack and Joe! My friends called their daughter Jaccoa, they heard the name and really liked it, people are always commenting on how nice and unusual the name is. What I do think is important is that you and your babies dad like the name.
I think the names Marley and Kartel are both good names for boys.
Why would you care what other people think? Your children's names are your business. For the record Marley's a great name very original he will stand out in a crowd that's for sure & Kartel is also very original.

I have named my son Luis after a famous footballer Luis Figo & also because I met my wife in Spain she is Scottish & Lewis spelt like that is also a Scottish name. So I have also named my son in a similar way to you. I would like to wish both your Children a great life & lots of happiness. You name them what feels right for you & your partner good luck.
i think they are both pretty, try being stuck with Valeria...I was called Malaria or Vulvaria all my life
No I think that's fine plus the your new arrival may feel left out if he doesn't have a cool like Marley's!! I work with kids and there are some ridiculous ones out there, but I like Kartel.
if you want to name your kids after questionably famous potheads then our opinions shouldn't matter. But, since you asked I think Kartel is a ridiculous name.
I think it's cute. I really love the name Marley.
if they are names you like then why not?! i like them , they are different. im 37 weeks pregnant and havent a clue what to call our son! lol. good luck.x
I love the names, especially Marley
as long as u like them
Yeah kind of. Seriously one named after a singer you can write off as a coincidence. But two or three and people are going to catch on and look at you weird. There are millions of names out there..seriously..
They are a bit different, but not SO different that they're weird. I think the name Kartel is cute, but maybe spell it with a C like Cartel (haha, that's one of my favorite bands.) Or just go with something similar like Karter or Carter.

Good Luck and Congratulations!
I think it's cool.
