The names are weird but I need some imput?

They're both old traditional irish names. I know they're strange but my family has roots in Ireland, and it's important that I choose a traditional name, so if you don't like either (which is extremely possible) please give me an old irish name with pronunciation.
The first is ISEULT (ee-solt)
The second in GRÁINNE (grawn-yah)

Answer:
If your child is going to grow up in the USA, do him a favor, and give him a normal sounding name.
I LIKE THE FIRST ONE BEST TO PRONOUNCE. IS IT A BOY OR GIRL NAME. I THOUGHT BOY, AND THE 2ND MIGHT BE A GIRL NAME.
I like the first one. Is this for a boy or a girl?
I like Basil Pronounced Bah-zil
Be carefull what you name your child... they will cop it for it at school!! KIDS ARE CRUEL!
I know of 2 irish names
Aoife (ee-fa)
Seannan (Shannon)
iseult but sometimes when you are bringing a child in the world it is better to do something that is best for them, not people who will not be living their lives. if you are going to be giving them a traditional name, are you going to be raising them traditionally and educating them in a traditional manner as well?
I like the first name, but becareful you child has to live the name for the rest of his/her life. As somone who has a long weird it is really a hassle. Is it possiable to give him/her a solid traditional name with up to date spelling? Like, Seannan (Shannon) for just one excample.

Best of luck to you and your family. Congrats on the baby
those names sound awful! sorry, just my opinion. i think it would be hard to go through life with those names. there are a lot of beautfiul irish names , girls: Siobhan (She-vorn), Niamh (Neeve), Maeve (Mave), etc. Boys: Liam, Declan, Conor etc. Just enter "Irish baby names" into google and you will find lots of sites. good luck.
the 2nd, i never heard it before but really like it
your right. not crazy about either of them. but i understand your delema. i'm Irish too and its important that my kids will have names attached to Ireland as well. ok hows this:
- Laiden - meaning: gray woman(wise) - origin: Irish - girl
- Nevan - meaning: sacred - origin: Irish - boy
- Flynn - meaning: inventive - origin: Celtic - boy
- Saraid - meaning: excellent - origin: Celtic - girl

----------------- Laiden Saraid --------------------
--------------------- Flynn Nevan ----------------------

i like these traditional names hope this helps. and GOOD LUCK!
i kinda like iseult! its different!
I like the first one because it reminds me of the movie Tristan and Isolde. I love that movie and I love the name Isolde.
Here is a link of traditional Irish names. Both names are beautiful. good luck.
If you want your kid to be given a hard time for the rest of her life,(especially in school) give her these names. Go for an Irish one with less Irishness in it.
I'd do like Shannen or Kellie or something like that. If it needs a pronunciation key next to it, substitute teachers will slaughter it every time and the poor child will have to listen to their classmates' jokes all day.
I like Iseult but I would spell it Isolde and hey you could nickname her Izzy! My hubby wasn't too into that name when I said I liked it too.
I would go with the 2nd-and I think tradition is lovely-nothing wrong with a unique name!
imagine your kid...spelling her name...for the rest of her life.Iilke Caoimhe (keevah),but I wouldn't name my baby girl that.Besides, children ar cruel.
Grainne

I'm not crazy about them, but I do like Alana. (Ah-lah-na) It's good that you want tradition in your names. Good luck!
There are many good books in the library about Ireland if you feel the need for a connexion with your roots.

If you're raising the kid in N America, and want to look like a sane, well-educated person who cares about their child -- but are still stuck on Ireland -- limit yourself to pronounceable things. Sean, Shannon, &c. Irish people don't even saddle their kids with 'Iseult' and 'Grainne' nowadays.

Did you mean 'historical' rather than 'traditional'?
The second b-cause the 1st sounds close to insult
I think they are neat, however the second isn't as cute. I think old traditional names, that are not common are great. Makes your child unique. We are going with names that are not super popular, though I LOVE Abigail and Sophia, but too popular now. I commend you for going original!
I dont like either one. Are you here in the usa, your child will get made fun of at school. Dont put that on a child, please.
I like Grainne.
Have you tried http://babynamesofireland.com
They will tell you the meaning, and you can hear a man tell you the correct pronounciation. Its a great site.
I don't know if you can do this, but maybe on the baby's birth certificate you could spell it the old way (and if there's room, "to be known as how it's pronounced")?

I'd then register her in preschool and school etc with the fairly phonetic spelling of her name or, as the others have said, kids and unwary teachers will be the bane of her existence.
I like Iseult, name your child what you like, your child will make the name their own they will become more than a name and who wants to have a name like every one else
I'm irish too, but my dad chose not to name us Irish-ly
But all my cousins are so ill steal the girls names

*Ashlynn(Beautiful vision/dream)
*Cassidy(clever)
*Jillian(youthful)
*Keena(brave)
*Kiley/Kyla(attractive)
*Brendolyn(Beacon on the hill/Female version of Brendan)
*Callie(From the forrest)
*Raicheal(saint like)
*Kaitleen(pure)
*Keana(acient)
*Keira(dark-haired)
*Keriana (keer-ee-ahn-ah, more isrish way or pronuciation , dusky)
*Kerrilyn(ceer-ee-lin, dusky)

Now these are traditional names, but they are more 'normal' sounding (sorry if that sounds bad) my family uses only traditional names also, except my dad and my mom. Hope this helps!
If your going to go for a name with your roots go for something like
Euann (its Celtic)a boys name
Aoife (pronounced E-fa)
Norah
How about using the names for middle names? They may be important to you, family names are, but your kids will hate you for it! They will constantly have to correct people regarding their name. No one will ever be able to pronounce it. Then there's the potential harassment from kids.

We picked a family name for our kids. They have a nice NORMAL name for the first name. No problems with kids at school. My name is spelled weird and I had problems (still do).
