Is Mary Beth a bad name to name a girl?
Answer:
It's not a bad name at all. It has been out of fashion for a while--maybe 50 years--but maybe that means it will make a comeback! People used to spell it Maribeth as well as Mary Beth.
Anyway, if you give her the name Mary Elizabeth, but call her Mary Beth, she still has a lot of possibilities.
It's not bad..but way too old-fashioned for me.
Um, it's a little old-fashioned. I think of a little girl with braids and glasses dressed in a school uniform. Also, I knew a Mary Beth who was a nasty person, so I guess it has a negative connotation for me.
It's not my favorite because it is rather old fashioned. Is there a special reason he likes that name? Would you always use both names when talking to her or referring to her? I think Beth is nice - maybe you could legally name her Mary Beth but leave off the Mary as her daily name.
Nothing bad in name. Try to grow your child in good character, God fearing which is responsibility of mother mre than father.
i think this is a beautiul name.
its a nice name , it a common name from way back. and it reminds me of some one on days of our lives, her name is mary beth. but choose a name that both of you will like, and if you don't like it , don't name your baby that. sit your husband down and find another one. that you both would agree on.
Wow, Mary.
Thats so commmon.
What about something like Naylen, or Layla, Skye, Kaylen, Adria... Theres so many namesss out there.
yes thats a littltle to old fashion. no offense
It's a really sweet name for a young girl, but it doesn't really suit a young lady that well. How about a name that that suits all ages perfectly?
Maybe just Beth, Holly, Leah, Summer or Tiffany?
Hope this helps, and congratulations on your pregnancy..
Sounds to Waltons to me.
No, it's not bad. I like it spelled as Maribeth though. All one word.
As they said before, it does seem old fashioned, but maybe you can compromise and come up with a variation of one or both of those names.something a little different, instead of Mary and/or Beth.
I don't know your taste, but an example would be either Marinda, Marynda, Marrissa, Marianna, with either Beth or Bethany, or Elizabeth, or even Bettina... for the middle name.
My friend spells her name Merry instead of the traditional" Mary", it's pretty and cute I think... and it also fits her personality.
no, it's not a bad name.It reminds me of the older movie stars.
I think you should use it.Usually, husbands want to name their boys jrs.I think it is very sweet of your husband to choose it.
I sounds very old, I say try something else.
search the internet..
u might find something with a meaning..
like qiana = in african = diamond in the sky
or luca = italian= bringer of light
zahra = arabic = flower
elyazia = arabic/ united arab emirates and gulf area = beautiful deer
but margret is kinda nice...
in the end, its ur baby.. and ur gonna have to live with her name till the end..

Nah...i give you reasons
Mary is too OLD-FASHIONED and TOO COMMON too!! I mean mary had a little lamb little lamb little lamb.get what i mean?
Beth...okay sounds like a cheerleader with big boobs name.also sounds like a dumb girl...
Sorry i dont mean any offence but this is what i feel get a better name...
I really like Mary Beth
I'm not a fan. Not because it's a little old-fashioned, but because I met a strange guy at a store who kept asking if I knew a Mary Beth Powers of the Hope House, and this guy really freaked me out.
It makes me think of a nun.
it ok but i dont really like it !! it way to common for me
I like it but. personally i think that it is a very plain name you could spice it up a bit like:
Natalie Mary
Sarah Beth
But i don't care for that combination but choose whatever you would feel best like naming your child.
no sorry its not for me it reminds me of that police program that used to come on Cagney and lacy i think it was called sorry
Don't really like it.
I like it. It has a nice ring to it. I'd spell it Merrybeth or Merribeth, though. Perhaps give her a trendy middle name so if she has the same opinion of many of the answers on this board when she's in school, she'll have something to fall back on. But I think she'll appreciate the "tried and true" name when she's older!
i love mary beth. you could always call her beth for short...that's a great name, too.
It is an old name. I don't like it much but maybe to make the husband happy you could use one for the middle name :)
i like uncommon names...so, sorry to say, i dont like mary beth
It sounds angular.
Try something like Marybelle or Miranda instead.
Mary Beth is just so short and hard. If you really want to keep the name Mary, do something like Mary Isabelle, Mary Elise, Mary Kathryn, Mary Bethany.
Good luck finding a name you love!
Mary Beth
or Marybeth
I like it
