If I name my son after my husband, first and last name, does he get the suffix Junior or II??

I say if it's the same exact name as father, it's a junior. If it's the same exact name as my father-in-law (as in we skip a generation) then it's a II. I need clarification!

Answer:
You are correct. If it is exactly as his father's name, he gets a Jr. suffix to his name; Dad adds Sr. to his name.

If he is named exactly as his grandfather, or any other grandfather in the direct line, he gets II for a suffix, If his father and grand father have the same name it would be Senior, Junior, and then III (the third).
You use Jr or II (either one) for naming after the father and III if the grandfather and father had the same name and naming 3rd generation after both of them.
You can if you prefer.... my brother gave his son his full name w/out a Jr or the 2nd.....
If he is named after your husband, JR. If after your father in-law II. If your husband is JR then your son is III.
whichever one you want to use. it doesn't really matter.
Jr.

my husband has the same exact name as his dad, with a different middle initial, and he's got no suffix.
it would be a jounior
you can choose, it doesnt really matter

the name junior's kinda cute
jr., if its after father in law then II
It's junior until there's a third. Then, it becomes II and the grandson becomes III.
your son will be a Jr. and your husband will be Sr.
Yes, you're right. But the II part is rarely reguarded.
My son is named exactly after his father, but I always hated the Jr. so on his birth certificate it is II..I dont think it really matters..Its what you want
it's junior if you name the child the same name as the father.
it's II if you're naming your child the same name as someone you know. it's only considered II tho if the child's last name is the same last name as the person that you're naming him/her after.
your son would be Jr.
it doesn't matter, it's up to u, u can still name him II even if it's the father's name, i prefer jr.
yes!
Either way is correct.

But I would advise you NOT to use junior. My father was a junior, and he was called Junior all his life. Many people didn't even know his real name.
jr. but i don't like it i mean don't you get confused because both your husband and your son have the exact same name?
You can do it either way. My brother's name is Michael Joseph G. and his son's name is Michael Joseph G. II. He didn't want him to be a Jr. And to differentiate the two I always call my nephew either Little Mike or Michael 2.
jr or II
