Can anyone tell me the origin and meaning of the name Katrice?

I've heard lots of different explanations but it would be nice to know exactly what it means? Is it common in a different culture?

Answer:
I strongly suspect that your name is constructed from Katrina (a form of Catherine) and the French female ending "-rice".
It is a made-up name like someone took Katrina and Patrice

None of the name things on line have Katrice.

I can not give you the meaning, however it might be a derivative of Katharine or Patrica.

It is found as a forename (first or middle) for girls for over 200 years in genealogical records and many women named Katrice were from, or had parents or grandparents from Germany and Austria.

I have found this name from many areas including Italy and even in Hawaii (in the 1800s). This lady was of Japanese parentage. I have also found many instances of Katrice existing today throughout the US.

It matters not what the name means to others, or to history, it is what it means to those who wear it that is what counts.

ADDED: I highly doubt that Katrice is of Scandinavian origin because of the lack of findings in that area of the world (not any I could find), but if it were true, the meaning would be more "path" than road. A person who travels their own path, or a person who guides others to the correct path.
Katrice: "One who cashes welfare checks"
Its made up,
