Do you find the name Aurora hard to pronouce?
Answer:
My daughter's name is Aurora, so I'm a bit partial to it myself. She does go by the nickname Rori sometimes. I can tell you from personal experience that some young children did have a hard time pronouncing her name correctly, but that is no different than any other name with R's in them.
At first my daughter didn't really like her name because it was different, but now (she's 13) she loves the fact that everyone thinks her name is beautiful and appreciates having a name that she doesn't have to share with other girls in her class.
I personally like uncommon names, and have only met one other person, who happens to be a black female, with that name, though she spells it Aurore.(same pronunciation though)
Anyway, I think you should do what makes you happy and paying tribute to your mother is a wonderful gesture. It will make your daughter's name that much more special.
I think Aurielia is a pretty name but I think most will have a hard time saying it. Aurora is very easy to say.
nope i like it its very pretty go with it its your baby name her what you want. plus the name is so adorable
i think aurora has a rough tone to it. maybe it's the 'ror' part. aurielia is better and rorie should be spelled rory.
I like the name Aurora actuall that is the name of the city I live in.
i adore the name aurora. its a good strong and beautiful name. you cant go wrong. read up!
Aurora is the Roman personification of the dawn. She is also the Roman equivalent of the Greek goddess Eos. Aurora is seen as a lovely woman who flies across the sky announcing the arrival of the sun. Aurora has two siblings: a brother, the sun, and a sister, the moon. She has had quite a number of husbands and sons. Four of her sons are the four winds (north, south, east, and west). According to one myth, her tears cause the dew as she flies across the sky weeping for one of her sons, who was killed. Aurora is certainly not the most brilliant goddess as she asked Zeus to grant one of her husbands immortality, but forgot to ask for everlasting youth. As a result, her husband soon became aged. Aurora is not one of the better-known goddesses. However, Shakespeare refers to her in his famous play Romeo and Juliet.
I would say name your child after you mother
Aurora is nice
Aurielia with the nickname Rorie is cute
Do not let anyone talk you out of this
Rorie is also cute
Congratulations
I think that name sounds like you just got out of the dentist after surgery and are trying to speak. Sorry. How about going with the last part of your mothers name a little bit and go with Ella maybe Grace for the middle name. Do whats right for you though you have to say it everyday! Good luck!
It's cute, but I have trouble pronouncing it, too.
I really like it, I think it is sophisticated, grown-up and very feminine and Rorie is beautiful on a child!! Dont let others put you off it if you like it. Its easier to pronounce than some of the weird names out there just now... :>)
looks hard to prounounce. ........how DO u prounounce it?
i think aurora would be a very cute and sweet name also rorie would be a VERY cute nickname.
nopee. its pretty dang simple if you have ANY common sense at all. UH-ROAR-UHH. easy as pie.
I like Aurora, it's very sophisticated and I like the nickname Rorie.
Only heard it used in two movies with Shirley McLaine. Aurora is a lot easier than Auriella and I like both. Kids find most all names hard to pronounce and it takes them til 5 or 6 to develop hearing and speaking enough to begin to get everything right. That is part of the reason kids are so cute. So don't worry about that. That is why kids are on TV saying the darndest things. They need both hearing and speech to develop before getting it right.
kind of. it's a pretty name, though, and i agree that rory/rorie is a nice nickname. if you're uncertain, you could always use it as a middle name.
Both are very pretty names and I think I can pronounce both.
I love it! It is gorgeous!
Try Osama or Fidele.
I don't think it is hard to pronounce or spell, either. And I think Rorie is a cute nickname. Aurielia is harder to say and spell, so I think you were right in changing it to suit your daughter, but still tributing your mother. Congrats!!
It is very cute and not hard at all to pronounce. At least I dont have a problem with it. I also like Rorie as a nickname. Very good.
No offence but who cares what other people say. Your the one who is having the baby not them. I thought my daughter would have problems with her Estella, (after my grandmother) but she is already saying "tella". Close enough for me. I think both are lovely names. But i love the name Aurielia.
Please Don't Take It the Wrong Way
But All That Came 2 Mind Was "The Car" Aurora.
Or A Lion "Roarrrrrrrr"
I'd Rather Name Her Aurielia + It Sounds So Exoctic, its A Beautiful Name
the first thing that came to my mind was the Disney movie, Sleeping Beauty! What a beautiful name, and I LOVE LOVE Rorie. My daughter's name is very difficult to pronounce, but that's why we have nicknames. When she's older she can choose which she likes better. And what a sweet tribute to your mom. Love it, wish I'd thought of it!
I love it, it makes me think of Sleeping Beauty, very elegant, and a nice tribute to your Mom.
It's not hard to pronounce at all. And even if it is for young children (and what isn't) it will be fine as she gets older.
no, and its a beautiful name-perfect for your little princess right?
Don't let anyone talk you out of this name. It's beautiful, and a lovely tribute to your mother. And so what if little kids can't pronounce it, they'll learn, we all did. Congratulations.
I like the name Aurora but I think it is very hard to pronounce. It is hard for adults and nearly impossible for small children!
Just my opinion though! SD
As a speech therapist, I see it as a very difficult name for a child to pronounce. Otherwise, I think it's beautiful. Just be careful if speech problems run in your family - it's been my experience that kids who have trouble with the "r" sound have it somewhere in their names, and can't say their own names! Who cares if other people can pronounce it. They'll just have to learn. As a black woman with a difficult to pronounce but non-ethnic name, I applaud you for choosing a name that's different but won't be a a barrier for your daughter later in life. She will probably grow to be very proud of her name, especially when she learns what it means. Congratulations!
I don't think it's hard to pronounce. From a child, on the other hand, it might come out as "Uhworwa." (which is kinda cute to think about lol).
