I think of a 67 year old smelly libarian with 23 cats at home.
short for "gertrude," it makes me think of a 60 yr old woman who hates kids and is secretly glad she never had any. ( now watch and see if I don't get hate e-mail for that answer by all the Trudies online!)
Trudy is a nickname for Gertrude, pronounced 'gair-*tru*-deh' in German. Mae is a diminutive of Mary. My grandmother, born in 1898, was named Mary Margrethe, but my grandfather always called her 'Mae'. BTW, one of my favorite people in my old church (before I moved) was called Trudy, so I like the name.
I like the Trudy. Not sure about Trudy Mae though.
Maybe Trudi Lynnette or Trudy Colleen etc... Should really fit with your last name too.
I have an older name, Lillian, and they really do come back in style. Like Matilda is coming back now.
Trudy is different from all the Kristy/Brittney common names out there.
I dont want my kids to be common. I love the names Isabella, Ava and Vivian.
Good luck
I have a hard time with the name Trudy... I picture an old wrinkled smoking Grandma at Bingo.
it is usually short for Gertrude.

mae is not my favorite middle name.sounds like the beverly hill billies (from the hills of tennessee).ely mae.

trudy marie sounds classier and sweeter.
Trudy makes me think of a waitress in a cheap diner.
And Mae doesn't make it any better...
Just my honest opinion.
It makes me think of "The Facts of Life". It's a great name if your child is an awkward African American teen with acne and braces!!
uh sarah G thats TOOTIE from facts of life, not trudy. anyway.. its "ok". i'm sure you could probably find a prettier old fashioned name thats not used to often.. i'm guessing that is what you are going for. how about Evelyn? Eleanor? Lillian?
Sounds like a stripper name. Sorry, how about the name phendy or elise or gianna?
Ewwwwww
sounds like a 90 year old

name her jamie-lynn ariel-jane
trudy sounds too old !!!
It's hideous in my opinion! Sounds like an elderly woman from the '40's. Try Kylee Mae or Keriann Mae. Those are much better names!
I think it sounds really country, esp. the "Mae" part, at least it's not Billy Mae!
I think its old fashioned, reminds me of the good olde days when women were not allowed to vote or wear pants. Surely, you don;t want your child growing up with the name Trudy.
And then to stick Mae in the middle, truly you can do better than that.
If you must name your child Trudy, then how's about a cool middle name like Alize?
Trudy Mae makes me think of an old bitter 75 year old southern hag. How about Maybelline, Maybelle or Maesie. True is a beautiful name instead of Trudy.
trudy makes me think of that show the facts of life
No dude sorry that name sucks think harder how about Samantha?
i like it!
Sorry,i dont like it...
I don't like it. It sounds country to me. It would look a little better if you were to spell it Trudie. I can't think of a middle name that would go with it.
i personally think Trudy's a rather "old" name but if it's a family name or you really like it, go for it, it's your baby
trudy to me sounds like a southern mean old lady.
I don't particularly care for the name myself. Also the Mae in there makes her sound like she's from the hicks or something. People may assume she's not very smart like the Beverly Hillbilly's. I think maybe you could shorten it to Tru instead. I only suggest going a different route because there have been studies with teachers and job applications as well and names make a big difference. Names that are different get looked over on job applications and teachers actually tend to mark higher for common names like Michael and Sarah even when the work is the same. So just be careful whatever you choose.
Trudy is a shortform of Gertrude.

Trudy Mae is okay, but kind of reminds me of Peggy Sue or Elly Mae. A little hokey.
