Any ideas for boys names that aren't so common?

My husband likes Carter, and i do too, but I was hoping for something a little more unique?

Like Gatsby or Carraway from The Great Gatsby or Marlowe Phillip Marlowe from the Big Sleep

Hugh or Hugo.. English name that means "bright mind.. intelligence" Very common in England as well as the spanish speaking countries. I hated my name early but after I realized that it was unique, I really enjoyed it. Everybody remembers my name, and everybody remembers me because of my name and the person I came out to be.

I would just stick with Carter personally, you both like it. The thing with unique names is that you don't want to get carried away with them. You want something different, but practical. Something that most people will be able to pronounce and read. You have to keep in mind when naming that it's the child's name, and that when they are 25, your personal name preferences aren't going to matter. Try and keep that in mind, it's their name, not yours.
