4 months into pregnancy and high fever..?
Answer:
Tylenol, but if her fever gets to high she really needs to see a doctor to make sure the baby is ok.
Tylonel ONLY, seriously !
she should go to the emergency room! her baby could get hurt!
tell her the doc knows best
Tylenol, (acetaminophen) is completely safe for aches and fevers.
If the fever goes over 101.5 she needs to go in to see a doctor.
Fever can safely be lowered in pregnancy through the use of tylenol or tepid baths. How far along is she? If she is over 18 weeks the baby will be ok, if shes under that i just read that when maternal core temps reach 102 degrees F. (38.9 C. or greater) there have been reports of abnormal fetal development. Fevers this high occurring during the period of neural tube closure (days 20 to 28 after conception)have been associated with a significantly increased incidence of central nervous system related defects. Im not trying to scare you or anything, that is just what i have read. Good luck and i hope she feels better, and everything is well.
Tylenol (or the generic) is the only thing she can take while pregnant. She REALLY needs to see a doctor though... right away. A high fever can cause problems for the baby.
If the fever doesnt go away, see a doctor as soon as she can. I recently had similar my doctor put me in hospital cause i was dehydrated, he thought I had a virus as it turned out I had chicken pox.
Appart from the medication others have suggested, she could use cool face washers or a fan to cool her down. It is important to get the temp down.
Tell her not to take any tablets or capsules without the consent of the doctor. If she takes, it will definitely affect the baby's growth- both psychologically and physically.
Its better to meet the doctor. Hurry Up.
How high is the fever? I had the flu when I was 4 months pregnant and I was allowed to take tylenol.
