Any women out here that are giving their babies up for adoption? SERIOUSLY.?
Answer:
You don't have to go through an agency, you just have to go through a lawyer. It is called a private adoption and it's done all the time. Good LUCK! :) I couldn't imagine not knowing if or when I would ever have a child.
It's illegal to not go through an agency.
Way to go, trying to find your baby on FeelBaby.com.
Hope everything works out for you. I've thought of adopting later on in the future but it seems so complicated. Its a very long and expensive process too. They should make it a lot easier so that people dont have to look outside of the country.
I understand what you are saying, the statistics last year on Domestic adoptions in the US were 25-30,000, that is amazing, isn't it? Now, some of these children may have been adopted out of Foster Care I am sure, but there are still many babies/children who will become available to parent. That is what they need most, a stable environment, and great parents!
Most people who are not "in the process" are not aware of the reasons why mothers choose adoption for their children. They may think they are drug addicts, etc., however, most times, the birthmothers are teenagers thru about 20, they are not prepared to parent emotionally or financially, however "do care enough" about their baby to give them a chance at a good life! What a gift! And also, one of the hardest decisions a woman would have to make, I cannot even imagine! There are also older women who may already have 2-3 children, and may be single mothers, or just not able to care for another child who make the choice of adoption as well. I commend these women, they could always take the easy route and have an abortion, instead, they go through 9 of the most emotional and physically trying months of their lives, care for themselves (hopefully), then offer someone who just wants to "parent" a wonderful life opportunity, A Child.
It does take a long time, no matter whether you go through an agency or a lawyer. You have to have a homestudy first, so I would recommend doing that right away. Get your fingerprinting done, all your medical checkups, background checks, etc. - just get that out of the way now. A private adoption through a lawyer can help you find a birthmother who is due in a few months or weeks, so it may speed up the process a bit. Other options are that you could go through an agency that serves women who have unintended pregnancies (like Hope Cottage in Dallas, TX, or Gladney, etc.). They may be able to connect you with a birthmother who is searching for a family for their child. It's hard and grueling, but the process is like childbirth in its own way - you forget the pain of it once you have that child in your arms, and it's so worth it!
