cats dogs anyanimals can tell it is in the scent change...hormones.all of my pets would poke me in the belly with thier noses and my kitties thought it was a great place to napthe first time i was prego we got a kitten and thats where he slept untill after i had the baby then it was just my lap or beside me
thats what my mother told me also, the male cat likes to now lay on my stomach, and the female cat for some reason goes in heat. its weird.

i would say the best way to know that is to ask the cat.
I am curremtly 32 wks pregnant and I wake up everyday and my cats on my belly.This never happened before I was pregnant.I definetly think they have a sixth sense.It's really a cool thing.
