20 week ultrasound! Please answer!?
Answer:
It usually takes about 45 minutes. They measure the head, the arms, legs, heart, lungs. Make sure their measurments match up with your due date(they might change it, they did with my second one). Then after that is all done, they look to find the sex of the baby. Most technicians already know when they ask you if you want to know, but they might double check. Sometimes the baby doesn't want to cooperate, so they have you walk around to see if the baby will shift. It's harmless and it won't hurt a bit, It's actually quite facinating. Good luck!
Dont worry, it is one of the most exciting things in pregnancy!! You will get to see your baby!
They will take measurements of the baby, and check if everything looks fine. They will check the heartrate and they will also try to see the sex of the baby. If you want to know it then they will tell you.. if the baby cooperates and lets them see that is. Depending on how good of a view they get it is usually pretty accurate.
ENJOY!!
Oh also, make sure to drink a lot and go into the Ultrasound with a full bladder! It sucks but they need it.. if they didnt tell you yet then they will make you drink lots and wait in the waiting room until you feel like your bladder is full
everything is going to be OK. the tell you boy or girl(if the legs aren't crossed), the weight, length and you'll probably see it sucking his/her thumb. enjoy this experience. but when you get further into your pregnancy, they will draw blood to check for any birth defects. so don't worry.
First of all, there's absolutely nothing to worry about, you should be excited! You're going to see a picture of your baby moving around inside you. At this stage they can tell you the sex of the baby if you want. They're basically checking that every part of the baby is developing properly, making sure the spine in is tact, heart is beating fine, arms and legs are all there... Be sure to ask for a picture! Oh, and if there is anything wrong I don't think they're aloud to tell you, they have to tell the doctor so your doctor can tell you and properly explain any complications.
dont be scared its one of the best parts about being pregnant, its the first time u get to see this little baby growing inside u .and you will get a photo hopefully...most times i think the get the gender right but not always..enjoy
Well, when they gave me my 20 weeks ultrasound, they did check for any abnormalities of the heart and internal organs, as well as physical abnormalities of the body. If you dont know what the sex is, they can tell you if you want to know.
Dont worry yourself hun. Just take it in stride.
It doesnt take long and if you have never had one, its an absolutely blessed sight when you see your child for the first time.
Just lay back, and watch your baby in there. Its absolutely fantastic!!!
Good luck and best wishes for good health and happiness always.
Who: Most pregnant women.
Why: To check the age of the baby, identify a multiple pregnancy (twins or more), check the baby’s growth and size, and look for major birth defects. Also used to help diagnose certain pregnancy complications.
When: Usually at 18-20 weeks; at other times, as needed.
How: Ultrasound uses sound waves to show a picture of the baby on a screen. The health care provider rubs a handheld device, called a transducer, across the woman’s belly or inserts a probe into her vagina. The woman feels pressure as the provider moves the transducer, but usually no pain.
Risks: Considered safe for the mother and baby when properly used and when medical information about pregnancy is needed. Non-medical use of ultrasound during pregnancy should be avoided.
