How do I stop laughing at my child when he is supposed to be getting into trouble??

When I try to disipline my 16 month old..for example when I tell him to get away or stop playing with something he looks at me and wrinkles his nose and blows air out of his nose or says begub begub begub and I have to turn my head away so he doesn't see me laughing. HELP! How can I stop myself from laughing when I'm trying to disipline him?

Answer:
lol, that's so cute!! I'm bad like that with my chihuahua. It's because he's so darn cute when he's being bad...BUT just ask yourself if it will be just as cute when he's older? Or when he can talk back? You're a softee...ya gotta harden up just a lil!
well its hard at that age cuz hes just so cute! but put a firm hand down, or let his father hadle it!
I do it too. My daughter dropped the "f" bomb twice today. (this was the first time she's ever done that)
I disciplined her & corrected her but it was so funny!
said to your self stop.and be serious.
You have to control your laughter if you want to discipline your child. You know that nowadays the kids are too smart for us to discipline. So you have to be stern with your kids before he gets out of hand.
self control is part of disciplining a child

if they get the idea that by acting cute they can manipulate their way into doing whatever they like and avoid a telling off then he will still continue to do it later on when he is far less cute (IE do you want him to laugh at YOU when he is 14 years old and ask him to do something (or not to do something?))

maybe hold him close to you - on your lap or something - so that he cant see your face while you tell him off could help there?
I think we all just have to bite a hole through our lip. My daughter (17 month) makes the cutest "I'm about to do something BAAAAAAAAAADDDDD" face ever and it's almost impossible for me to keep a straight face while I tell her to stop. But what I have found is that I'm perfectly allowed to laugh at her while she throws a tantrum. She's so funny when she does it and then looks up at you like "are you looking at me?" it's just hysterical.
Every child in prison has a mother who thought he was cute/funny. If you don't do something now, your darling could grow up into an evil *gasp* REPUBLICAN!
Try biting down on the inside of your mouth and put on a serious face. If he find out you find it funny, he'll never stop.
My daughter does the same thing too, she actually smiles and takes off! So i have learned to be firm otherwise how will she ever know i am serious if i laugh along?
I have the same problem...my step daughter is 21 months and I find myself having to bite my lip in order not to laugh. If I can't fight the urge, I turn away and try to laugh silently.
