How far along do you have to be in your pregnancy to have your labor induced?
Answer:
For no reason, you have to be over 41 weeks.
If they have to they will after 36 weeks.
DON'T PUSH IT! INDUCTION SUCKS..it is very painful with no breaks for you or the baby and it has a higher rate of C-Section.
If nothing is going wrong, at least 38wks. But no doctor will induce if everything is fine and you're not overdue (less than 41-42wks).
Without a medical reason or with a medical reason? Most doctors won't do an elective induction before the due date. There are risks with inductions like emergency c-section. The contractions are much stronger, you can eat or drink anything, and you have to stay in bed on monitors. I was induced twice and it was not fun at all. The first time it took three days and they were threatening c-section. The second time took 8 hours from the time they broke my water. My best friend was induced and ended up having an emergency c-section. Best of luck.
Is it your first? With your first they'll generally let you go a week or two over (41 or 42 weeks) before they'll induce. If it's your second they'll knock a week or two off (38 or 39 weeks).
This would depend on your condition, the baby's condition, and if you are considered high risk (like carrying multiples.) A normal, healthy pregnancy w/ no complications can be induced anywhere from 38-42 weeks. Your doctor would likely wait until the 40 week mark.
Usually a doctor will not do this unless you are at least 38 weeks pregnant
