Precocious puberty..??
My neice was diagnosed with this, going through puberty between 5 and 6 and getting her period at 10,.
please tell me everything YOU know about it.
Answer:
precocious puberty = abnormally early onset of puberty.
I personally started my period at the age of 10 (exactly on my 10th birthday) I have had various female problems all my life, including PCOS and horrible periods (when I have them). I started developing my breast even earlier when I was in the 3rd grade I was already getting into the bra's by the time I was in 5th grade I was in a 34 C at the age 15 I was in D cup. I was also having to shave my legs and had pubic hair by the time I was in 5th grade. The mother or yourself is going to have a struggle on your hand (ask my mom) I was over developed for my age and guys thought I was older and all I was trying to do is "fit" in with the other girls. Be supportive and try to keep open lines of communication cause she herself is going to have a rough time adjusting to her body, when nobody else has started developing. I'm not sure PCOS and precocious puberty go hand and hand but I would definitely ask the Dr. as time goes on she may need to start birth control (not now of course) just to make her periods a little easier on her.

Girls are going through puberty earlier and earlier because of estrogens and pseudoestrogens in our foods and environment. That really means parents cannot put off having "the talk" especially with their girls because it can happen so early.
