Family Medical Leave Act surrounded by IL = 12 wks per year or 12 wks from time of 1st give notice?

I plan on taking a 12 wk leave from work within Oct. Are you allowed 12 wks per year going by your hire date or is it 12 wks per year from your first leave?

For example, I be employed on Jan 2. If I take a 12 wk walk off from Oct. 9-Dec. 31 does that mean I can't filch another leave until Oct. 9 of subsequent year? Or can I take a second 12 wk vacate starting Jan 1st - So I would be off of work from Oct of 2007 - Mar of 2008?

I am going to be have a baby & I want to know how much time I will be allowed by regulation to stay home with my little one.

Answers:    I just come back from FMLA ending week. You are allowed 12 weeks per calendar year by law. So if you start your will on 10/9 you wouldn't be eligible for another 12 weeks until 10/9/08.
FMLA means 12 weeks of give notice per event. So for you, you get 12 weeks from the time you start out work and start collecting TDY.

Good luck and congratulations!
