Having sex isn't about an age but more of a maturity level...and I'm very glad to hear that you are asking about protection and STD's. That is a very important step...but they also have to actually be used and used properly...Anyone that shares needles with someone else is in a HIGH RISK category for blood borne STD's, such as AIDS. Another step on that maturity level would be for you and your expected partner to get tested for STD's BEFORE having sex...if you're too young to be afraid to ask someone to do this then you're too young for sex...you won't want to catch something that will or could be with you forever (even think herpes). Please be careful and think of the important part of yourself that you are giving away before you do it...Goo luck hun.
