Im still young and would like to get my tubes tied for now because im pretty sure i dont want children?

i already have a stepson and i think that is enough for me right now - LOL is it possible for a young girl to pay to get her tubes tied? because ive heard that you cant get them tied until ur 25 or had 3 kids

Answer:
most doctors will not perform this procedure unless you are of certain age or have had children. I had a tubal ligation done at 26 after 2 children. That is where they actually cut portions from your tubes. I know my doctor asked me a lot of questions before he agreed. I had them done at the birth of my second. You need to discuss this with your gynecologist though. He/She will know if it is a law in your particular state and or country.
You can get them tied whenever you would like. There's no rules. I would think really hard about whether or not you really want kids. Getting your tubes tied can cause damage and it could be hard to try to conceive.
I don't think any doctor will do it especially with you using words like "pretty sure" "right now" and "I think." when you can say "positivly", "forever" and "I know" go talk to a doctor. for now get on birth control if you don't want kids "right now" because forever is forever when you get your tubes tied and a long time to not have kids.
enough for you RIGHT NOW but what if you want more l8er you should not do it UNTIL you are sure
Doctors now generally don't like tying tubes period. Sometimes they have been known to come Untied and they just prefer not to do the procedure anymore. I just asked the doctor that im working with right now...although he is an ER doctor he said that it doesn't matter how old you are as long as your not under 18 and as long as you have the money doctors will do whatever you want.
I say don't do it. You're still young and can change your mind after a period of years. Don't do it till you're absolutely sure.
It's your right to have it done. You can insist, but you will meet opposition from the medical profession. They'll try and talk you out of it. Good luck.
It depends on your doctor. I've known women who had their tubes tied before 25yrs. I'm fairly sure that no doctor would touch you until you are 21 at the youngest (depending on what country you live in). They may request that you have counseling first to make sure that decision is what you truly want.
You may have to go shopping for a doctor to do the surgery, but it can be done.
It's up to you, but I think I'd wait a little bit. Ever tried the Nuva Ring? I used that with excellent success for birth control before my hubby and I were ready to start our family, and it was more convenient than having to take a pill everyday and beats having to have surgery!
I always heard that you cant get them tied until you were 21 or 3 kids. I wouldnt have them tied. why dont you try the pill or another form of birth control. You still have many years of child bearing age and you may wait 5 years and then say het I really want a baby and then it will be to late. I know that you can get them reversed but your chances of pregnancy is slim. ALso I have heard that when you get your tubes tied that your periods are much heavier and much more painful. I would take into consideration that what you want right now may not be what you want 5 years down the road. I have 2 sons and I always said I never wanted any more children but now I am considering have more myself. SO just be sure of your decision.
You can't get your tubes ties FOR NOW. It's a permanent procedure that you may very well regret. What happens if the impossible happens and you get divorced? Then you don't have any kids and you won't be able to have them. Just get on a long term birth control and wait until you are in your 30's to make this life altering choice.
you aren't sure about this, so don't do it. sterilization is serious and often times not reversible.

get a mirena IUD. i just got mine about 3 weeks ago. it's a little odd at first, but i don't even notice it anymore and all the cramping and spotting from it have disappeared. it's the most effective form of birth control on th market. do you have a child of your own, though??
if not, then it's not recommended. prime candidates have already had at least 1 child. plus, it's good for 5 years. so, it's inserted into your uterus and then, you're totally birth control covered for 5 years.

check it out www.mirena-us.com

also, ask your OB/GYN about it.

take care.
Hopefully, your Dr. will NOT do this for you. If you think you don't want children, fine, but things change, times change, people change, that is a drastic decision to make at such a young age. I would use other forms of birthcontrol, not this method. I don't think you could possibly really be ready for that kind of a decision. I don't mean to sound cruel, but at 20yrs, I thought I knew it all. At 25, I realized how wrong I was. At 30, still thought I knew it all. Now, at 45, I realize we never really mature, we keep growing and changing. Please, don't make such a drastic decsion just yet.
yes, it is possible. It's just a matter of finding a doctor that will do it. (Most will do it if it's a medical concern.) However,... having your tubes tied is not just a simple solution. Immagine going through menopause at your age. your hormones will fluctuate. big time.. bottom line, it's your body and if you are sure about your decision, then go for it. BUT, if you have even one doubt in your mind.. then perhaps you should hold off. Like you said, you're still young.. a million things could happen to make you change your mind. Best of luck to you.
