Still numb after a c-section 4 years ago?
Answer:
The samething with me darlin, I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago and i still have no feeling surrounding that area.. my doctor told sometimes the nerves are severed and nerves don't grow. anyways, I'm stuck with it for life. I annoying I know. sometimes i do not even feel my hubby touchin me in certain areas. The good areas are fine ;) (wink, wink)
My youngest of 3 will be 7 in a few weeks and she was a planned c-section. I have been numb since that day nearly 7 years ago. Aparently it's normal, I have a few friends with this same problem.
I had this problem too but it went away for the most part earlier this year (my daughter is just about to turn 3). I know it's normal for it to be numb in that area for an extended period due to the nerves being damaged. However, 4 years seems a bit excessive. You should talk to your doctor asap since that numbing feeling are severely damamged nerves. Then again, it could just be taking longer for your body to heal since it was a 2nd cesarean.
Make an appointment with your GYN doctor and ask him. It sounds like nerve damage.
Ya, when I had surgery on my knee 2 years ago, some of the nerves got severed and part of my ankle is still numb. It sounds like to me that some nerves were cut and that is why you are feeling the numbness. It will probably take a long time if it ever returns to normal. I was told that it may never return to normal and it will be like this the rest of my life. This may be the same with you.
I had one 4 years ago also. Only before I had it done I took a class to learn more about this operation. In the class the teacher said some people do have this problem. At my check up after delivery I double checked with my physician and she told me it was completely normal, not to worry.
My c-section was only in February of this year, but I'm numb, too. At my 6 week appointment, my dr. asked if I had numbness, and he said that it was okay, that sometimes it takes a long time for the nerves to re-generate, especially if you've had multiple c-sections. He said it can take months or years to come back, and that it's not totally uncommon for women to never regain all feeling back in that area.
Ask your own doctor next time you go in just for reassurance, though. Hope I've been helpful!
my sister-n-law had a histarectomy and her stomach is numb also she got burned really bad from a heating pad after surgery, thats when she realized that she did'nt have the feeling and thats been 5 yr. ago still the same, they must cut some kind of nerve in there for that to happen, talk to your doc
