About the local health department?

I currently have no insurance. It looks like it is going to be that way for a few more months. I work but I'm still on a probatioary type period before I can get medical insurance. My mom had mentioned I could go to the health department and somehow make payments for a medication that I have been supossed to take. I've been off of it for a while and I need to start taking it again. Has anyone ever heard of this?

by the way, I'm not talking about medicaid

Answer:
Sorry! I guess I should have read more carefully!
If it is a regular medication, many of the drug companies offer discount & even free meds for people who cant afford it. After my car accident, I had no way to pay for meds untill the insuracne settled my case (I was hit by a drunk driver) I used the Partnetship for Prescription Assoc. Call your local pharmacy, they will give you a customer service # for the maker of the drug. Then call the company directly and ask if they offer a service to customers who cant afford their meds. If they dont, they should be able to refer you to someone who can help you until you get your insurance.
You may not BE talking about Medicaid, BUT ... it's not hard to get approved (in most states) AND ... all your medication is free. Other than that I have no idea what you're talking about.
it NEVER hurts to try it out!
