Why can't pregnant women take hot baths?
Answer:
Long ago there was an old wives tale that pregnant women shouldn't take baths because it would increase the likelihood of infections since the woman is just sitting in the "dirty" water. However doctors have since determined that the women can take baths, they just aren't supposed to take them above 75-80 degrees (F) because they're body temp will rise thus making the baby's temp rise and heartrate increase. Good rule of thumb, if it's too hot to put a baby in then it's too hot for a pregnant mom!
Because the baby is already in a really hot place that it will boil you baby in a way!
The mother's body temperature will get too hot and therefore, killing the unborn baby.
because it would would raise the mothers body temp and can cause birth defects
Hot baths and hot tubs draw the blood to the surface...to your skin. That is why your skin appears very pink when in the hot water. This deprives the uterus and the placenta from the usual amount of blood that flow to them. The fetus gets his oxygen from the blood exchange that takes place in the placenta. So...hot baths rob the developing fetus of oxygen. This can cause brain, organ , or other types of damage to the fetus. One specific type of problem that has been related to use of hot tubs by women in very early pregnancy is spinal deformities...spina bifida. See wesite below for more info.
The only one who got this right was Olivia. You CAN take hot baths, it depends on whether or not YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE RISES. For the first poster, you can't boil your baby. Please, don't have kids.
So you can take a hot bath, but i'm sure you arent going to take a 102 or 130 degree bath. Just watch your blood pressure, that is it.
Boil your baby, sheesh, some people should get fixed.
