yes u qualify as LONG as the father isn't living with u. (don't lie.. u will have to repay any benefits and can be banned from future assistance).. it took me 3 years for my name to come up so don't expect anything too soon.. Ur best bet would be to find a complex/landlord that rents based on income (not thru sect. 8).. Sect. 8 is a pain is the azz.. they come in whenever they want (supposed to be 1 year) and if ur house isn't SPOTLESS.. it doesn't pass. A lot of landlords will not accept Sect. 8 too much hassle.. So, I would try any other aspect of housing.. It's hard to get and even harder to keep..
They will count the father's income as household income if he resides with you. You will then be required to pay a portion of the rent. If you don't want that to happen then don't report him as living with you. Call the housing authority or hud division for the county you are interested in.
