Does anyone know about taking caster oil to bring labour on?

Answer:
Yes and dont bother. It can be harmful to mother and baby - will give the mother the runs and can often make baby have a bowel movement whilst in the womb which is dangerous. Baby will come when nature intended but if you must try something then stick to Raspberry leaf tea - though the best action of all is to have sex - sperm contains a chemical that induces labour xxxx
DON'T do it!! You will only get sick, diahrea and vomiting. It 97% of the time will not bring on labor. Try using accupressure points and relaxing some. Also sex works well.
old wives tale.
it really is true..the best thing to bring labour on is sex..but the woman must orgasm ...the womb contracts in the same way as during labour..try a pint of guiness too...or if you aint got a willing man i am more than willingto help as i my missus...double bubble...orgasm a dead cert
no that is silly dont do that it makes you sick realy you get cramps take milk magmesam just one spoone full with water that helps really : )
When I was expecting my eldest (who is 33 now) the standard treatment used in hospitals to try to induce labour without drugs was the OBE - Oil (castor oil), Bath, and Enema.

Utterly grim and barbaric - believe me, I know all about it!

When I was expecting my youngest (now 19) I went all modern, and tried the CWS treatment - a curry, a glass of wine, and a good hard sh*g.

This was much more enjoyable!

It also worked - I went into labour a few hours later...but that might have been coincidence :-)
Don't tamper with nature, the baby will come when he/she is ready just be patient you've already waited 9 months
my god please dont do it its a old fokes tail it dose nothing to bring on labour and can do more harm than good if u want to try something herbal try rasberry leaf tea or tablets but please stay clear of caster oil
I tried it and it doesnt work unless your body is ready to go into labor, It made me have terrible bowel cramps and kept me on the toliet most of the night, but still didnt have any contractions. Also it can make the baby have a bowel movement which is called meconium which can be fatal if the baby swallows it.So just be patient walk and have sex this is safer and works better.
ITS AN OLD WIVES TALE AND VERY VERY DANGEROUS, JUSTHAVE TO BE PATIENT
rasberry leaf tea is only safe to induce labour after 38 weeks other wise it can cause indigestion and be painfull.
but it is good. you need to drink about 4 cups a day though. a box of 20 tea bags is about £1.20 from you nearest holland and barrett
It does not work most of the time and you will get horrible diarrhea.
DEAR GOD DONT DRINK A WHOLE BOTTLE!

My friend did that and all that happened was she got the runs. I wouldnt bother, i think its all wives tales, I went through the suffering of drinking raspberry leaf tea, hot curries and even 42 week gone sex! I was 2 weeks late so I really don't think that anything is really certain to bring on labour, good luck though!
A friend of mine herd that drinking caster oil does bring on the labour, well it didn't for her. I was really unsure about her drinking it as it smelt disgusting. She said it tasted awfull and she was gagging the whole time she was trying to drink it. She was sick for 2 days later and had no effect of bringing on her labour.
Different things work for different people tho. its not suppost to harm either you or the baby so good luck if you try it. I've herd drinking raspberry tea helps. Just go for the curry and a good portion of sex.
Good luck xx
That is something they used to do, probably still do in some hospital's in SA. Usually to make your stomach work before giving birth it also helps bring the birth forward but the main reason is to make your stomach work. Instead of giving enema's.
