Is it safe to drink slim fast while pregnant?
Answer:
I don't see why not. It's full of vitamins and nutrients. However, Ensure makes a slimfast drink ESPECIALLY for pregnant moms. I think those are great and you know they are safe. If you go online and search google you can find coupons and freebies too.
I just checked slimfast's website and did not find the warning for pregnant women; in fact, this is what I found:
"Slim-Fast products do not contain any stimulants or drugs."
I've included the link below for you or anyone else who has this concern.
NO, you shouldn't be trying to lose weight now. You baby needs the nutrients. Go ask your DR this or call the folks at slim-fast. Don't just take my word for it-there is information on the package that says pregnant women shouldn't drink it
Girl you are scaring me!
ask ur doctor
It is ok to drink slimfast while pregnant but not for the purpose of weight loss. You will still need to consume the correct amount of calories for your baby to grow properly.
You should ask your Dr. Dr. Should have given you a safe way to lose weight, if he/she didn't, ask him/her.
ask your doctor not us. Ask doctor for a plan to lose weight. This is serious. don't ask non professionals.
Its safe, its also packed with extra vitamins. As long as you are still eating enough to get all the nutrients you need for baby and you, I think it is okay. Anyways sometimes that is all you can stomach(I have a 6 pack in my fridge right now, and I'm 7 weeks, with a little nausea)...I figure I try to get the most out of what I can manage to get in me at this point. So I drink drinks that are packed with nutrients.
your doctor shouldn't be telling you to lose weight while you're pregnant anyway. watch what you eat and slow down on the weight gain, yes, but never lose weight.
I think slim-fast has a lot of calcium and protein and other things that are good for you, so if you wanted to have one for a snack or a breakfast, it should be ok. if you want to do the slim-fast plan where you replace 2 meals with the shakes and then have a normal meal, definitely go to your doctor.
*edit* there is a very small amount of caffeine in slim-fast. according to the website "The SlimĀ·Fast Chocolate and Cappuccino shake flavors contain small amounts of caffeine due to its natural occurrence in cocoa and coffee powder. There is less than 5 mg. of caffeine in a single serving of SlimĀ·Fast Chocolate flavors (ready to drink, powders and bars). One Slim-Fast Optima Cappuccino Delight Meal On-The-Go Shake contains approximately 35 mg. of caffeine. As a reference, an average 8 oz. cup of coffee contains 80-140 mg. of caffeine per cup."
Actually is not safe to drink slimming products when pregnant. Maybe you can try to eat lesser portion of food, but more meals. That's what i do during pregnant. Or cut down fast food(if you're eating).
ha ha! are you trying to put the baby on a diet? go see your doctor.
It is not healthy, but it is not unsafe either. You do need to maintain a healthy weight while pregnant, but this can be accomplished by taking a good look at your diet, and discussing changes with your doctor to make sure the foods you are eating, and by extension feeding to your baby, are nutritious and not overly caloric.
Slimfast, while not dangerous, does not have much in nutritional value (it is mostly fiber), and you could do better.
Do avoid weight loss drugs like Dexatrim, as they are dangerous while you are pregnant.
Actually, I was having a really hard time gaining weight, so my OB told me to drink 3 slim fasts a day. The have at least 300 calories in them, if you mix them with whole milk. I have been adding that to my regular meals since probably about 13 weeks, haven't had a problem yet and I am 27 weeks now.
I do not know about using it to lose weight, that is something you will have to ask the doctor. It IS safe to drink though.
I think I would ask the Dr. I heard from my Dr it wasn't good for anyone, I use to use it too,and now have problems I'm not sure that was the cause of the stomach problems, but you can't be to careful while you are pregnant. Congrats on the new baby.
