Folic Acid?

I'm 27 and on the pill.. I know I'm at childbearing age and I just wondered when I should start to take Folic Acid?? We don't plan on having kids for awhile, but I didn't know if I should take it just in case..

Answer:
Take them NOW. Folic acid takes time to build up in your system, and it is CRITICAL in the early weeks of pregnancy. Most multi-vitamin have it, just check the label.
You don't need to worry about taking folic acid BEFORE you're tested positive for being pregnant. I was only prescribed Folic acid at 3 months after I tested positive. My baby is healthy and fine.

Altho it is recommended that you should take Obimin / Sangobian / Folic Acid 3 months before you're trying to conceive.

:)
It doesn't hurt to be taking it in case you do accidentally become pregnant. Just take a daily multivitamin. That will be plenty for your needs. Most people get plenty in their food too since it's one of the vitamins that's heavily fortified in foods.

Hope this helps! =)
Ellie C is wrong you should start to take them before you get pregnant. Ask your gyno next time you go and get a good vitamin with folic acid in it.
