Is there a latest time in which i have to inform my employer that im pregnant? Im 18 weeks now?

Want to leave it till as late as possible, not because they discriminate, they were very good last time, but i have to change roles due to the nature of my current position. Just need to know if i have a legal obligation to inform them by a certain time?

Answer:
you have to inform them 15 weeks before the baby is due (ie at 25 weeks pregnant) for health and safety reasons tho it is wise to tell them asap.
No, but they cannot require you to change positions because of the baby. They can temporarily replace you while you are on leave, but they MUST hold your job for you and allow you to come back at the same pay rate. IT IS THE LAW!
Id tell them a.s.a.p, the sooner they know the better for you, plus you might not be able to hide it for much longer
While laws vary from state to state, I've never heard of a set law that requires a certain notification for maternity leave. However, individual businesses do have policies related to notification of extended absenses, such as maternity leave. If they have a set policy in relation to that and you fail to comply with their policy then you could be putting your job in jeopardy. In that case it would not be discrimination, but simply failure for an employee to conform to a given policy, as with any attendance policies. If you work for a larger corporation, a simple call to Human Resources can give you the answers that you need.
A quick heads up to the boss might be of some help, from the company's point of view. They make their plans on a quarterly basis as it is, just to keep their budget straight.
Giving them a little extra time to plan for whatever changes in your input to that quarterly plan/schedule might give them the time necessary to tweak your schedule and theirs together.

It would be good business.

Legal wouldn't come into it, just let your immediate supervisor know then have him/her work with you on the rest of it.

It doesn't sound like you work for MegaCorporation or somebody with unyielding standards of performance, so I think it will be alright.

As for the other question you posted, any kind of maternity benefit is still up in the air, as is any other service to the people.

they are spending so much mucking foney on the war that there is little else left over for keeping our civilization running.
There is no legal obligation for you to tell your employer that you are pregnant. However you may want to consider doing this because they are then obliged by law to carry out a specific pregnancy related risk assessment on you. Until you tell them they are only obliged to do a risk assessment the same as they would for any other employee. From 20 weeks you can obtain a mat b1 form from your Midwife or Doctor which you then give to your employer. This will set the whole maternity benefits and smp ball in motion. If you go to the Department for work and pensions website they have a couple of downloadable leaflets that can help. Just type in pregnancy risk assessment into their search field and you will get the information you require.
i would let them know as soon as you can, because after a couple months, its gonna be obvious, and, depending on your loyalty to said company, its only respectful that you give them a chance to train a new employee to take your place. that doesnt mean that they can cut your hours, or will even attempt it. it's just proper to give them the same respect they gave you by giving you the job.
You definitely do have to tell them by a certain time if you are going to be claiming maternity pay, although I am not sure of the week. I think it's week 25 or something like that, although you might have problems covering it up until then!
Yes, you must tell them now. They must get all the paper work and stuff sorted out for you when you go on your 4 months maternity leave. They must also make decisions then not to let you go or fire you or anything, just to get someone to fill your place temp while you are at home. I am 16 weeks now and found out when i was only 6 weeks i went to my boss imediatly

good luck and congrats with your baby. do you know what you are having yet? i am having a boy.
There will be, and it is probably set down in company policy. I even had to tell them before 24 weeks to get 2 weeks Paternity leave. To make sure you get Maternity leave it may be sooner.

Plus tell the Occupational Health officer and your boss, and they are obliged to let you go for a nap in the afternoon, or have time off to attend e.g antenatal yoga/physio classes etc. And as time goes on they will not be allowed to require you to work alone in the office.
They should find out when you start yelling up the big white telephone every five minutes.
Give the boss a chance to train someone to take over when you have to stop work, As a man I'm not able to talk about this in a sensible way but an intelligent young lady of my aquaintance played badminton up to seven and a half months, bouncing around the court like a space hopper. She was in the medical profession and knew what she was doing... congratulations.
