from what my wife says..Epidural.. on our last kid, my wife asked for it the moment we arrived at the hospital, cause she knew it would take an hour till the anesthesiologist would arrive!

I know you want a simple answer but there are side effects with the epidural, I have back pain as a result. Talk to your Doctor about the side effects.

epidural with my first, felt NO pain during labor, but pushing and delivery was excruciating.
natural with my second, got into a hot bath, and the pain went away so well that she was almost born at home. (literally, she was out and born less than 5 minutes after we got to the hospital, i was actually pushing on the way through the hospital.) oddly enough, pushing felt GOOD, made the contractions not hurt. delivery didnt hurt bad either.
to sum it up: i will NEVER have an epidural again, it was much less painful at the important hard part doing it naturally. (i also have lingering side effects from the epidural, but you want a simple answer so ill spare you.)
I went Natural...but what counts the most is a HEALTHY LIVE BABY!
