Can anyone tell me if there is a cut off for when companies will employ pregnant women?
Answer:
To my knowledge, it's illegal for a company to use discriminatory hiring practices. However, I'd imagine that employers avoid hiring pregnant women for a variety of reasons, most of them financial, some for the sake of convenience. I doubt there's a specific cutoff, though. Probably whenever a woman is visibly pregnant is when an employer will avoid hiring her, though I'm sure they'll simply say the pregnant woman wasn't qualified, or some such nonsense.
It depends on the company. If you are showing, they may not hire you b/c they will have to replace you when you go on maternity leave.
Hi
Companies aren't allowed to ask if you're pregnant but if you're visibly pregnant a hiring manager would be very likely to find some reason not to employ you as s/he is going to have to find someone else to replace you in short measure.
Good luck
As others have said, they can't not employ you because you are pregnant, but unless they really want you and are convinced that you are going to come back after your pregnancy, you chances of getting hired if they know you are pregnant aren't great.
If it was a temporary job, and was going to be over before you gave birth, then they may well employ you. They might be worried about you taking more time off sick than someone else, but there is no reason why they can't employ you.
You could always cover up the fact that you are pregnant for as long as possible, but this is going to create bad will when they do find out.
it really depends on the company, when i was 3 four months gone, i got a job in a sandwich factory, and stayed there until i was 8 months, they knew i was pergnant when they took me on, and they great about it, even got me a stool and stuff so i could sit down when needed a break, and when i was washig up, they got me the stool so i didnt have to lean over! it wont be for insurance reasons, they just probably want someone who is/are going to be a bit more reliable
I'm 29 weeks along and now I cant be employed for health and safety reasons, Iv never heard of not being able to work at 15 weeks, It sounds ridiculous, especially as in the eyes of the government your still employable up until the 11th week before you give birth.
