Why do they tell ages of babies by months? i mean even after the are 1 its still by months...why?

and when do they stop doing by months?

Answer:
I think its good that they do this. Babies change so much in those first 2 years, that they should get credit for each and every month of their little lives.

Generally, I think people stop counting by the months at about two, but I've seen some do it up to three years old.
Why not?????????...
Because babies grow and change so quickly ... a 3-month-old is much different than a 7-month-old, for example. Usually, by the time a child is 2, most people refer to the age in years instead of months.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I think people say it in months because they want to know exactly. If you say a child is 1, it could be the day before it's 2nd birthday, but it is still one year old. They want to be more specific. I would say people generally stop doing that when a child is around 2 1/2, or should I say 30 months! lol.
only moms will ansewer that way ,because they go from 1 mth to 2 mth so ... and w/o thinking of it they say 13 mths ....
i dont know. my son just turned 1 a few weeks ago (he's almost 13 months...lol) i guess that its b/c they are so little, i think its mostly for the doctors...they have to have shots at a certain months old.i am trying to get out of the habit of saying that he's ___months old...i would say that after the baby turns 2 its just crazy to still say..oh, he's 29 months old.did any of that make sense to you? because it made very little to me...lol
That has always annoyed me!!

It's like, "how old is your lil one?"
"She's 16 months today."

Why not just say, "almost a year and a half."?!!
I stopped at about 14-15months. I would then say almost 1 1/2 or almost 2 if the child were over 18 months if someone where to ask. It drives me batty when some people still say something like 25 months! 25 months is 2 years old!
Because the amount of development from one month to the next is very great in the first two years.
