Adopting through CPS in Texas..What are the fees and do you need an attorney??

We are going to be adopting in 2007 and I have a few questions I can't seem to find answers to.

I would really love to find an adoption support group in the DFW area also, can you help??

Answer:
You can adopt through CPS in Texas one of two ways. Directly hrough their internal foster/adopt agency in Dallas that would be Region 03; or through a private child placing agency. In any case CPS will not charge you any fee for the adoption. If the child is a minority and over 2, or anglo and over 5 or a part of a sibling group being adopted together youmay qualify for a subsidy that will cover all the attorney's fes as well as provided medicaid and college tuition. In addition depending on your financial situation and the child's needs you may qualify for monthly subsidies as well. Finally all children adopted through CPS qualify for a 10,000 tax credit.

As for adoption support contact the local CPS office and ask who the post adopt provider is for your area. They will have support groups, a lending library and numerous training opportunities.
as far as the fees...you would have to contact the place you are adopting from to find out that info. they can change without notice
