After using breast shield once my baby is not taking my breast in her mouth?please help.?

i have used it once

Answer:
If you can get away w/ it, don't use the sheild again. I had to use it exclusively to get my daughter to take the breast and I wish I had just tried harder to get her to latch on naturally. Make sure you pinch your nipple between your fingers (not too hard) to get it to poke out more. Stroke your infant under the chin or wiggle your nipple in his mouth to make him open wide for the breast. Also, you can contact the La Leche League for more tips. Here is their # 1-800-525-3243 (US)
You might need to rinse off your breast because it might smell like spoiled milk. If there was any leaking while you were wearing it, then it would make the breast smell different to the baby and she just might not realize that it is you.
cmon...if you want to be natural (breastfeed) then be natural..
you should only be using something close to natural ONLY if its for health reasons not vain reasons..so maybe your baby is so receptive to the DIStaste that you should try something else :)
My gf and I had a baby 4 months ago and she used the shield right away. After awhile she attempted a regular nip but the baby refused. Then we used a bottle once and she refused the shield. So I guess the best course of action would be to never use the shield again and "force feed" the baby until she natutrally takes it again. Babies seem to know the easiest way to get full and don't like to entertain anything else.
