My husband was taking lamictal when I became pregnant. Should I be worried? Is the baby in any danger?
Answer:
Unlikely. If YOU were taking it, that could be a problem.
Like I say to everyone who asks these types of questions, you need to go to a DOCTOR!!
Don't waste time in posting this type of thing on the Internet?? I would love to know why. The truth of the matter is this, you need to hear the truth from a doctor, not someone on the Internet.. You should be ashamed if you are not going to seek the correct type of help from a professional if it could possibly affect the health of someone from your family.
You wont like this answer but everyone must admit it is the truth.
Good luck x
I don't think that anything that the father takes will affect the baby. It's the stuff that you take that will affect it since you both share the same blood stream for now at least.
the husband would have to be taking something that effects his DNA for it to effect the baby.. and the only thing that could actually change his DNA would be Gamma radiation or something.. so I think you're safe..
I agree with scouser, except I suggest you see a pharmacist, as they have a much better knowledge about the effects of drugs. Only lately has science studied the effect of various medications on sperm, which provides half the genetic material in a fetus.. It is ludicrous to think that drugs taken only by the mother will affect an unborn baby.
My advice to you would be, quit worrying about it. If it has affected your baby, there is nothing you can do to change it. The mother's emotional upset has proved to be harmful during pregnancy. That is something you can, & should change.
Good Luck to both of you & the father.
The pharmacist is the best choice. Too much liability for a doctor to admit wrong.
Others gave good answers. Seek advice and then enjoy your pregnancy. A healthy mental attitude is just as important as physical well being.
