How do I find a trustworthy Nanny??
Answer:
REFERENCES REFERENCES REFERENCES!
Can't say that enough. A lot of the children in my son's classes have had nannies and they came through an agency. Most were really nice, but one was a total meanie...not at the kids, but she was always in a bad mood.
Agencies check references and criminal histories in a way that you can't, but cost more.
Maybe a local church..interview several times...experience, patience and instinct...if you think something is wrong...there is!
Good luck, I'm glad I never had to worry on this!

Check them and really check into their lives. Or hire someone else too.
Those are your kids, you deserve to know all about them.
Interview them well, and make sure its not someone too bossy (towards you). Youll be writing the paychecks and will be the boss.
Maybe there is a hire out place for nannies. Try churches, or wherever you feel comfortable and what kind of age range you want the nanny to be.
Can the nanny handle 2 kids at once? Be very critical and make a big list of everything and discuss or ask the nanny questions about.
Look up nanny placement agencies in your area and then make sure to double check references even if the placement agency says that they have already pre-screened their applicants.
I recommend highly the book "Protecting the Gift" by Gavin deBecker. It has suggestions for interviewing nannies. This is an absolute must read for all parents, regardless of whether or not they are hiring outside help.
