Please answer!!here's a question for Mommy's that have newborns and kids! read question inside.?
Answer:
To be honest most gas stations where we live have the pay outside option with a checking card/debit or credit card. So, I have been lucky enough to pay outside.
If I was in a situation where I needed to go inside, I would take the baby in the carseat into the store, pay and leave. It is much easier to just carry the baby in the carseat than have to take the baby out every time. Most newborn carseats have a base that sits in the car so you can take the carseat out whenever you need to without it being a big hassle.
Hope this helps and good luck ;)
Never leave your baby or small child in the car. Most gas stations (in the US) have pay at the pump, a very handy feature.
No, I NEVER leave my kids in the car. It's just too risky. There are pumps where you can pay with a credit card outside. That's what I do. If I have to go in, everyone goes with me. It's a hassle, but it's worth it for my kids.
There are two ways I do this I either use my debit card and leave the kids in the car or I go to one of the gas stations where the pumps are right next to the cashier booth. I don't take them out of the car unless I have to actually go inside the store but I try to avoid that in anyway possible I have three 5 and under.
I always took my children with me no matter what, I just didn't want to take any chances at all. It only takes a couple of extra minutes to remove them from the seat. It gave me peace of mind that my kid was with me. Congats on your new baby!!
You need to carry your newborn with you at all times. It is unsafe to leave your baby in the car by himself. Try using a credit card or debit card to pay for gas instead. This way, you can see your baby and you don't have to struggle getting your baby out of the car seat.
Take the baby with you or pay at the pump. If something happens to the baby you won't ever forgive yourself. It's too risky these days.
When my kids were that small, I was living in Europe. And, I always felt much safer there. I locked the car and left the kids sleeping in their carseats...wait by the car if there is a line of people paying. Are there full service stations near you? Can you find a pay-at-the-pump station nearby?
You NEVER leave your baby in the car alone. I suggest you go get yourself a debit card so you do not have to worry about the hassle of getting baby in and out of the car.
What I usually do is pay at the pump so I don't have to go into the store. I have three kids ages 13, 5, and 2 and I wouldn't leave them alone in the car for anything. Now that my oldest is 13 I can do it but when they were all young or when I only had the little ones with me, take them with you.
They have car seats for newborns where you can carry around the car seat all you have to do is click the car seat into the holder and also push a button to release it. Good luck to you and good for you to ask this question instead of learning it the hard way. You never know in this day and age, even if you lock up your car someone can break the window and steal your car not knowing that the baby is in the back. Take him/her in with you or just have the hubby/daddy/boyfriend get gas for you. =)
never do that, even for a split second, I have heard about this on the news WAY too many times, i dont have this problem I pay at the pump, but it dosent matter where you are you will always have to take the extra time to unbuckle and carry baby with you.Its only a bit longer, but could save your babys life!
Good Luck New mommy!
I would never leave my kids in the car,of course they're grown up now. But there are too many sickos in the world. You can't trust anybody any more. It's actually very sad. Try to find a gas station near you that you can pay at the pump.I had 3 kids all a year apart and "yes" it was a hassle but well worth it in the long run. Good luck and congrats on the new baby.
I concur, never ever ever leave your baby alone in the car. Take her inside or pay at the pump where you can keep an eye on her.
You could also plan your gas-station trips for times when your husband or an adult friend or relative are with you to help.
take them i with you! its better to be safe then sorry! if you have a credit card then go to the ones where you pay at the pump! if you dont i would take them in just because the way our world is there are sick people in this world and if my kids were to get kidnapped while i was in the store paying for gas i would never forgive myself!
I always pay at the pump with my debit card. If for any reason I can't, I take the baby with me. I still do this with my daughter even though she's 2 1/2. There's one gas station where I can pay the cashier outside and if I'm parked right next to the cashier's spot then I'll go pay there if I can't pay at the pump. In this place I'm still outside and I'm not much further away than I am when pumping gas. If I had to go inside I wouldn't do it.
I go through drive-thrus whenever it's an option- at the bank, fast food (unless I want to sit down and eat), etc. but I don't leave my daughter alone in the car.
Honestly taking the baby out of the carseat isn't much of a "struggle". It hardly takes any time at all. If you have a detachable carseat with a base it might be easier to bring the whole carseat with you but I never found it was because my daughter always wanted to be held so then I was carrying a baby and a carseat instead of just a baby.
Even though it takes some effort, always take your child with you. I see people leave their children and babies alone to go inside to pay, but I wont do it. Its too risky and you jsut never know. Better to be safe than sorry.
Use your debit card or credit card outside. That's what I always do - I don't carry cash, easy to lose it and spend it! lol
if you really need gas and its just you and your baby take your baby in with you never leave then unattended that is the best way for some one to take your baby or even if a cop sees the baby alone you can get into serious trouble. best of luck with your baby you will have tuns and tuns of fun once he/she is born.
Eek i'd hate to have to live in a state where i have to get out of the car to get gas. I live in NJ. I just pull up to the pump, they pump my gas and i pay them. I dont even have to take off my seat belt!
Dont leave your baby in the car. Try to arrange to get gas when you have a rider in your car (ex: Neighbor, husband, friend etc). Then send them in teh store or have them sit in the car with your baby.
don't leave your baby in the car. one, it is sooo small and can't defend themselves, ait can't even keep it's neak up. even if it is a struggle, do it a favor and bring it in with you!
I always pay at the pump with a debit/credit card. If I can't, then I just take him in with me.
If you are getting gas, look at getting a debit card (deducts from your bank account). You don't have to leave the car side or struggle with getting your newborn in and out of the seat.
Also, get used to your car seat. You will be putting your little one in and out of the car a lot (unless you decide to stay homebound) and it won't be long and you'll be an old pro.
Take your little one with you as much as possible. You'll enjoy the company and you'll be expanding your little bundle's world and intelligence.
I went to full serve stations and paid while sitting in my car.. I can't think of any other situation where you would need to leave a baby in the car at all and if there are some, you work around it and deal with it.
I pay at the pump. Anytime you have to get out of the car and your not standing next to it, you need to take baby with you. I also take the keys out of the ignition and slip them in my pocket even when I'm standing right there pumping gas. It's just habit after I saw one of those shows with real life stories. There was a woman pumping gas and some guy just jumped in her car and took off WITH her baby in the backseat (everything turned out ok though). It is a pain to take baby out even if you just need to run in and pay for gas but it's better to be safe than sorry.
