What is the average cost of raising a child form birth to 18 years of age?

On a health channel in the Dr's office, they stated it costs about $7200 per year for 1 child! Then you add about $3500 for each additional child.

My son is 11 months and I spend about $200 on diapers and formula monthly (and thats LUVS and store brand formula) plus about $125 a month on baby food and cereal for him.

Then you have to think about toys, bottles, and so on. It's expensive!
i think i read that it is like 180,000...either way i worked it out to cost $1.01 per hour or $24.24 per day of your childs life till 18.
That is simple every penny you can scrap up. And then more.
