have you tried both of you making a list of the top 10 or so names you each like and see if there is a common one and go from there or 1 pick the first and other pick the middle

Look within your own families first-grandparents & great grandparents names. There are some lovely old fashioned names that seem to give the child a solid sense of belonging and are back in style-Charlotte or Henry coupled with an old family maiden name.
i like Zane for a boy, no-one else does though so it would be unusual at least!

I am due in april too!! Boys names were easy for us but girls were impossible to agree on...
We finally came up with Morgan Alexis for a girl
and Robert Joshua for a boy (after his father)
Other Close calls were
Ryan Joseph, David Jacob, Daniel James for Boys
and Hannah... for a girl
But I have alot of other favs too... there are just so many to choose from!!

My boyfriend and I had the exact same problem, and we just decided on a Junior. We call my boyfriend Rob and our son Robert, so it's not confusing. Another way to go is to let your partner pick the first name, and you can pick the middle name, or vice versa. Good luck.

Your baby's name should go with your surname. I made this mistake - my son has a first name for a surname and a surname for a first name - Aubrey - and it's made a lot of confusion.
You should always, apparently, have the same number or more, of syllables in your first name as your surname. Like John Smith.
Alexander McCall. Joan Collins. Gwyneth Paltrow.
If there are vowels in your initials, make sure it doesn't make a word. Like Denise Opal Gibbons.
If you want your child dated, choose a name like Kylie or Beyonce. In twenty years time, they're going to be the Sharons and Traceys. I chose trendy names for my boys. By the time my girls came along, I'd decided that classic names were a safer bet.
Also, do yourself a favour - don't give your child the same initials as other members of your family. Not only do I get confused - 3 of my children have the same initials - it's a major tongue twister.
One last point - choose the name you want. You're the mother - consider it as the reward for going through childbirth!
Out of my four children, only one has the name I chose. And I've never forgiven my friend for rubbishing the name of my little girl. It was the name of a local tramp, apparently. Everyone jumped on the bandwagon and I was put under pressure to change it. I've always regretted it!

I liked older names and chose grace for my first daughter, but at the time (she is 6) I also liked some of the new ones so we called her grace-paige. Then 5 years later the same happened I was going to have faith but then saw a new name so we called her anya-faith. everone comments on how pretty the names are. And with the boys names I cant really help because I cant think of any that i really really like.. good luck with everything
I would never suggest a name as I beleive the parents should use their own imagination as its a special gift you give to your child.
But my advice would be: pick something that reflects your heritage, or the kind of person you want your child to grow up to be.
We chose Arthur for our baby boy, (as in 'King Arthur") as I'm Welsh and BF's English and wanted something "kingly" Celtic and British! Arthur was also BF's grandfather's name.
His middle names will be David William after his two uncles. Family names are also lovely to give, its so nice to honour a beloved family member and gives the child a connection to who he/she is and where they come from.
For a girl we had chosen Rose Catrin Angharad (Rose as its my favourite flower, Catrin being the Welsh version of Katherine and Angharad a Welsh name that my mum loves) but we're having a boy so we won't be using that one!
Don't just pick something off the TV or some silly made up name that sounds "cool" but has no meaning. Your child will carry their name throughout their life and what sounds cute on a baby will not sound "cute" on a 45 year old Managing Director (That moron Jamie Oliver called his daughter "Daisy Boo" - how's that going to sound on a 50 year old woman?)
Give your child some dignity and a name to be proud of.

Oh and rather than give your kids "shortened" names like Alfie, Freddie, Tommy, Charlie, Mikey give them the PROPER version (Alfred, Frederick, Thomas, Charlie, Michael etc) - they won't be babies forever and t sounds better classier and more mature to have a full name when they are grown up. And who wants "hallf" a name anyway?? Just a pet peeve that one!
