It's definitely possible that your baby's position is contributing to your back pain, but the main reason for the pain is most likely just because you are pregnant. I started having back pain around 30 weeks or so, and I am now at 37. I wake up every morning with such a sore back... and my baby is head down. Most women experience back pain later in pregnancy, and have trouble sleeping partly because of it. 32 weeks is a little bit early for really bad back pain, but like I said I had it at 30 weeks. With my first child I don't think I had bad back pain until around 36 weeks. Remember that your baby is still pretty small, and most babies are not head down at 32 weeks yet anyway.
There isnt too much you can do about the pain. Try sleeping with a pillow on each side of you, tucked behind your back and under your belly. It also helps to have a pillow between your knees. Body pillows work great, and they also make a special pregnancy pillow shaped kind of like a U or a C. Some women swear by those memory foam pillows and mattress pads, but they can be pricey. It may also help you to sleep propped up a bit. Sometimes I even have to sleep in my recliner!
If it gets really bad, you can always take some tylenol. Ask your OB for some advise too! And remember that if you ever start having bad pain in your lower back that is not just from sleeping, call your OB because it can be a sign on preterm labor.
Good luck, you're going to have to tough it out! But you'll forget all about it once you hold your baby for the first time!
A quick fix is to purchase something called MEMORY FOAM. The real stuff is called TEMPUR but you can buy foam toppers and place it on top of your bed and it will give you more pressure relief.
I had this issue with my son. lie on ur sid where the baby will be head down, then the pressure will not be so bad, also invest in a body pillow, sleep with it between ur thighs in the fetal position it pulls the spine away from the baby, allowing it to drop down more twards ur side.
