Just because a baby walks early doesn't mean it's more intelligent then a child who is a later walker.

Yes, some young adults are really that naive.
A baby that learns to walk early can have any level of intelligence. I do, however, wonder about the intelligence of an 18 year old who is already pregnant with her second child -- now, that's probably not very smart.

Unfortunately your niece is being naive and stupid. Smoking pot and drinking alcohol have been proven to cause mental retardation in babies. She needs to be put in rehab for the good of her baby.
now a days the doctors are doing blood tests on babies and mothers in the few minutes after delivery. that baby can be taken from her if they find drugs in its system. my sister has adopted a baby for that same reason, it was taken from his mom due to drugs.

I totally agree with you..walking is not intelligence..it is gross motor skills. I would say her gross motor was fairly advanced if she was able to walk alone at 7 months...but that doesn't make her Einstein.
I feel for that poor baby she is carrying...it will be born with fetal alcohol syndrome and addicted to drugs.
Maybe alcohol and THC dont affect the fetus. You shouldnt ignore the evidence

I have noticed that kids that age are freakin stupid. You can call it naive or whatever...
Any kid that is 18 with 2 kids is no genious but you mix in the drugs and drinking...This child will be lucky if it doesn't have downs or some other horrid problem.

no not all young people are like this. I am 16 and i am mature (only when i have to be lol) but i am smart enough to know not to do those types of things, exspecially if i was a girl and pregnant! You better stop here from doing those things while she is pregnant, it can really hurt the baby.

She knows it doesn't help .. obviously it is more important to her to drink and smoke pot than it is to have a healthy baby. Let's hope the baby doesn't suffer too much for her foolish ways. Good Luck ! :)
that is so heart braking ...drinking and drugs didn't make that baby smarter . now days the doctor will blood test that baby and if drugs are found in its system that baby will be put in foster care..Not all young people are that stupid ,, she needs to wise up before that baby has so serious problems in it future
I really feel for these children, Im an early childhood educator, and too often i see children brought up in lives like this, with parents who do drugs and drink alcohol, its not fair on the child. Yeah this child may be walking, crawling, early, woopdedoo. that doesnt mean the child has brains..just means they have motor control and physical competence. Who is going to help this child once they start school, will your neice be there to help them with their school work or will see be too stoned and drunk to even care. They are the children that fall behind in school, end up needing extra support, specialist lessons, getting kept back, repeating classes, struggling, being bullied, etc.
I really hope that your neice wakes up to herself, realises she has one precious life in her hands and another on the way. She needs to step up to her responsibilities and give these children the best life possible. Otherwise she doesnt deserve to be a parent.
Im sorry but i get quite worked up with issues like this, it makes me so mad and upset when children are in my class dealing with issues like this at home.

Yes...if you spend enough time on Yahoo and get into the teen section you will be amazed at how naive they are and wiped out at their beliefs and interests or lack of. They are in a whole other world some of them and I believe it is all from lack of parenting caused by the need of two incomes to survive.

The doctor needs to be aware of the situation and there is nothing wrong with contacting him/her and explaining your concerns.

She doesn't need to have any children if she's not concerned about her health!! These girls these days think that they know it all and are going to do what they want because they don't care!! She needs a wake up call and doesn't sound like a fit mother!! She is putting her children at serious risk and just to imagine the damage that she could be causing to her baby, she should be ashamed of herself and locked up for neglect and abuse!
