Some countries have gift giving on Christmas Eve. Mostly though, Santa arrives mysteriously sometime while small children are dreaming Chrustmas Eve away. and are under the tree on December 25, Christmas Day.

The story (as it goes here in the US) is that Santa makes his run in his sleigh on Christams Eve (well, midnight makes it the 25th) and the presents are under the tree or in the stockings on the morning of the 25th.

Whenever you want. I always waited until my kids were alsleep Christmas Eve, then I would bring out the presents and put them under the tree. Then when they wake up they will think Santa was really there.
