Is carpet cleaning service recommended for a house which is expecting a baby in the next 2-3 weeks or so.?
Or what else would you recommend to "cleanse" the house.

I would think it would be better to have it be cleaned. Maybe ask around for a more environmentally friendly cleaning product.
first off get rid of the mouse before you have lots of them running around and yes carpet cleaning is a great idea (in any form)
You don't have to have it done professionally. Check into renting a steam cleaner/shampoo unit from your local hardware store. They are not as strong as the industrial ones, but work almost as good, for a lot cheaper. You can usually keep it for a day or two and just run it over the carpet two or three times to insure a thorough cleaning. Most newer units come self propelled so you would just have to direct it and not push it around. Use a fan to help dry the carpet or even a dehumidifier would work. As far as the fumes go, there are usually fewer fumes than if you were cleaning your bathroom or kitchen as the shampoo goes directly into the water used in the steam cleaner and then right onto the carpet.
I would definitely get the carpets cleaned and get rid of that mouse. My daughter is almost 2 and I still get the carpet cleaned often.
Sure clean the carpets but most importantly keep the surfaces dust free... even get some help washing those walls... you would be surprised with how much dust you will remove from your walls
