PG-13 Ratings?
Answer:
I think they dropped when the media realized that parents will now let their children play violent video games, get away with fighting in school, watch violence on T.V. and even let them cuss.
Everything is going downhill these days, especially what our children are allowed to view.
The standards drop every year. If you're really concerned about movies your child views, its best to view them first yourself.
the same thing happened to me. i went to see scary monvie 4 and it was so bad that i just left the movie with my son in the middle.
It is different than it was years ago and more and more adult themes and nudity is leaking into these movies. All you can do is keep up the pre-screening that you are doing (great job) and decide what's right for your kids and family.
I have sat next to my almost 15 year old during a movie and been absolutely embarrassed by the things in it...not sex I am open with her about that but just the rude and crude dialogue... topics that are absolutely ADULT material...
I agree.
I always view any movie PG-13 before I let my daughter watch it. She is 11 and quite mature for her age, and has gotten to watch 1 or 2 movies that are PG-13. A lot of violence bothers me also, more than innocent nudity does.
Also watch old PG movies. Before they had a PG-13 rating, many of these movies are still very inappropriate.
Many parents really don't care though. Several of my daughters friends AND their parents have mentioned them being allowed to watch R rated movies! It's one of the questions I ALWAYS ask if my daughter wants to sleep over somewhere.
